About this deal

Sorry for hitting your hand.” Katsuki says quietly under his breath. “I don’t know why I did that.” The only time 11-year-old Jarrell feels at ease is when he’s drawing. For as long as he can remember, he has created images of a futuristic world with towering buildings and magnificent warriors. His legs are folded against his chest, which makes it easy for him to grab his thigh and dig his nails into his skin.

Katsuki ignores her and lets his excitement ramp up again as he inserts the coins and turns the handle again. It makes a delightful noise as the capsule drops, but Katsuki just feels disappointment wash over him. You have a degree in History and Economics, which is very cool! How has this influenced your career in writing?Oh goodness,” the woman laughs. “Nice to meet you Katsuki. Did you remember to take turns talking, Izuku?” He doesn’t remember how ponytail’s lecture ended. He doesn’t remember walking across the room to put distance between him and them. Katsuki is an other now, he stands out for what he really is, a pathetic loser and a terrible kid. It makes his skin crawl and his ears ring. He doesn’t remember drifting away. Do you want to have a playdate with Izuku today? He’s going to be so excited to see your quirk.” His dad asks on the way to school the next morning. Katsuki makes a face at himself in the mirror. He hasn’t thought about himself in that way for a long time. Becoming the Number One Hero hasn’t been anything more than a plan to make sure no one else can hurt him for a long time. Hell, he hasn’t done much but survive the day for a long time. It doesn’t leave a lot of time for him to think about what he wants or how he feels. Are you kidding? Our boy wants to be the number one and he can’t even hold his own against some rando with an overinflated ego. How’s he supposed to make it at the top hero school?”

I’ve been writing since the beginning of 2019. I’d recently finished university and decided I wanted to do something that I enjoyed, and that was storytelling. I originally started writing Young Adult fiction (action/fantasy type novels), but later down the line realised that crime fiction was what really interested me. The rules make his house make sense, which is why Katsuki starts to get frustrated with Izuku. When they hang out, Izuku doesn’t follow the rules. It’s only the beginning of Katsuki’s new violent streak. It feels good to hit people, he understands why his mother loves to slap him. Sometimes it’s the best way to resolve your difficult feelings. Sometimes it’s the only way a bad kid will learn. Sometimes it’s the only outlet Katsuki has. It’s not in the rules, and it makes him better, it makes him more like his mom. So that must mean they want him to, because Katsuki just wants to be praised again. Katsuki tells himself those things, but no one has ever said it to his face while believing it wholeheartedly. He’s grinning so much his cheeks hurts. The look on the faces of his classmates, his teachers, of Izuku, it makes his gut burn with a different feeling. For the first time it’s not uncomfortable. For the first time, his hands are being adored. Not only are his parents not mad, they don’t want him to stop. Mitsuki, please. Can’t you just let him go this time?” Masaru’s exhausted voice drifts over from where he sits on the couch, not bothering to look up from his newspaper. Now that Jarell has finally made his way to Ulfrika, it is up to him, and his new friend, the kind-hearted and brave warrior Kimisi, to hunt down the Iron Animals before Ikala gets to them first. Jarrell is astounded when he discovers that this fantasy realm is a real place, Ulfrika, which he can enter via a magical portal in his cousin’s barbershop. He learns that he is descended from Kundi, Ulfrika’s heroic ruler, who centuries earlier defended the kingdom from devious sorcerer, Ikala.
