About this deal

By buying any Grayl product, you’re giving your money to a company that cares about our planet and its people. Materials:Made from BPA-FREE polypropylene #5, food-grade silicone, TPE and ABS food-grade plastic.

Of course, with normal use, the UltraPress “press time” will be longer as the filter gets dirty and clogged with debris. Generally speaking though, the UltraPress pressing-action is smoother and faster than my previous experiences with the Ultralight model and more closely reflects the user experience of the GeoPress. UltraPress vs GeoPress Performance? The other slight differences are in the design. The Ultrapress dropped the cap leash for weight reasons, and it has a slightly smaller (albeit 90-degree adjustable) carry handle. Testing the GRAYL Geopress vs. Ultrapress In testing both purifiers, I didn’t notice a huge difference in speed. I tried each filter multiple times, from a fairly clean source and then a less clean source. I also found that the smaller surface of the Ultrapress didn’t mean it was harder to filter — the flat surface of the top might even be easier to grip. The top of the Geopress feels more clunky to me. FlipCarry™handlerotates 90° for effortless separation (Inner Press from Outer ReFill) and easy carrying; provides a large pressing surface when flat. Always try to collect flowing water for filtering – the faster, the better. Fast-flowing water has less dirt and sediment in it. Filters particulates (sediment, microplastics). Ultra-powdered activated carbon adsorbs many chemicals (including PFAS & VOCs), pesticides, herbicides, heavy metals, flavors and odors.

Removes all waterborne pathogensincluding virus (e.g. Rotavirus, SARS, Hepatitis A, Norovirus), bacteria (e.g. E. coli, Cholera, Salmonella, Dysentery) and Protozoa (e.g. Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Amoebae). To reduce the frequency of filter changes, the manufacturer recommends pre-filtering dirty or cloudy water in a t-shirt before filling the bottle. This will remove sediment and dirt.

ONE PRESS® GLOBAL PURIFICATION

FlipCarry® handle rotates 90° for effortless separation (Inner Press from Outer ReFill) and easy carrying; provides a large pressing surface when flat. Multi-functional SimpleVent™drink cap vents air (by twisting cap ½ turn) during purification and filtration; protects spout from cross-contamination. I found that with the Ultralight, after a while the press became very difficult to press, especially with the sort of awkward design of the lid. Grayl made an improvement here in a big way. The UltraPress cap is wider so your palms can use a flat pad to press down without the top lid digging into your hand. The FlipCarryâ„¢ handle found on the UltraPress adds a shit ton of tech to the cap. Why? The FlipCarryâ„¢ handled provides an enlarged pressing surface when flat; rotates 90° for effortless separation and easy carrying. May not sound like a big deal but it is.

We’ve used our UltraPress purifier bottles extensively, purifying hundreds of litres of water that would otherwise have been undrinkable. From tap water in South America to flowing rivers in the Scottish Highlands and stagnant ponds in Europe, when things really got desperate, the UltraPress bottles have kept us hydrated and allowed us to reduce our plastic footprint while on the road! Filters: particulates (i.e. silt, microplastics, etc.); activated carbon effectively adsorbs chemicals, pesticides, heavy metals, flavors, and odors Overall, the size and weight of the Grayl UltraPress are slightly off-putting but the advantages of the bottle outweigh this slight nuisance! Removes waterborne pathogens including virus (e.g. Rotavirus, SARS, Hepatitis A, Norovirus), bacteria (e.g. E. coli, Cholera, Salmonella, Dysentery) and Protozoa (e.g. Giardia, Cryptosporidium, Amoebae). For the first few mornings, I simply used the outer cup as my coffee cup. The butterfly handle felt great in my hand and the cup did an awesome job of keeping my coffee warm. While that’s all well and good, I was really curious about how the filter would handle the heavy runoff water beneath our camp. (Photo/Josh Kirchner) Testing standards: independently tested by a certified laboratory to meet or exceed NSF/ANSI protocol 42 and 53 for pathogen and chemical removal; meets the the United States Environmental Protection Agency's Guide Standard and Protocol for testing microbiological water purifiers Durability: built tough to perform in harsh conditions and withstands 10 ft drops (full of water) onto concrete. The Grayl UltraPress is one of the most practicable water purification systems for travellers. It’s small enough to fit in any travel bag, is simple to use and makes almost any freshwater safe to drink. I’ve used my Grayl bottles to drink from stagnant ponds in Europe, fresh mountain streams in Scotland, questionable taps in Panama and flowing jungle rivers in Colombia. All of the water from the outer cup has passed through the filter and is now inside the inner core. Open that top cap and enjoy. Paracord D-Ring (Photo/Josh Kirchner)
