We had an incredible first six months when we launched the venue in August 2019 just before COVID, but it’s been an uphill battle since then to keep things going amongst everything that has been happening in the world and particularly the hospitality sector. The club closed in 2015 after decades of incredible nights, and attracted a number of different development plans over the years before re-opening as Jimmy's in 2019. The directors and the staff have done everything possible with various initiatives and events to keep things going but we have been working against post-COVID conditions and a major downturn in the economy which has become increasingly worse as time has gone by.

JiMMYBAR!, is a family company with a female co-founder & creator of "Bars With Benefits" meaning high protein-low sugar great tasting bars with Functional ingredients like immune boosting fruit, Collagen, Turmeric, Guarana Caffeine, Keto friendly nuts. In a crowded and popular category, JiMMYBAR! has built a company that is on-trend, fun, innovative and meaningful. They added the closure would not affect the business' long-established Manchester branch on Blossom Street, Ancoats. Eye of the Tiger Bar- for performance and recovery, Wake & Focus for brain health and The Beauty bar for hair/skin/bone health. It was a risky move but we saw the trend that people started eating for a specific purpose and we wanted to be the leaders in "Functional Food".

We pivoted the brand & created "Bars with Benefits" (a cheeky take on friends with benefits). All our bars now have functional benefits, We would like to say thank you to everyone who has supported Jimmy’s in Liverpool and been a part of the journey.

Even at the late hour of this reviewer’s last visit, the vibe was conversational, certainly a no-nonsense environment that still allowed for an outsider like myself to jump into a conversation at the bar. Between breaking up a disagreement here or there, the bartender was entirely friendly, open to the kind of idle chit chat befitting a dive bar as classic as Jimmy’s. About the only piece of bar décor that could be fairly described as “modern” happens to be the jukebox that on this night was fittingly cranking out vintage hits.The bar stools also feature a built-in footrest to keep you feeling supported and comfortable whilst sitting at this breakfast bar. This breakfast bar table has a beautiful embossed finish that gives character to the solid wood top and works harmoniously working alongside the powder-coated frame to create an industrial style.
