For me the Katana Artist Series is the perfect peak of the Katana Range - with improved control access and visibility via its front-facing control panel. For the Standard Katana Editions - the control panel sits on top of those Amps. The Katana-50 features line, USB, and phones/recording outputs with mic’d cabinet emulation, allowing you to send mix-ready amp tones to a PA system, computer DAW, or headphones. Connecting to BOSS Tone Studio provides access to three different Air Feel settings, letting you shape the tonal character of the direct sound to suit any performance scenario. The Version 3 update further enhances the direct USB capabilities, offering true stereo sound with many of the Katana’s modulation, EQ, delay, and reverb effects, including the newly added DC-30 Analog Chorus-Echo. New Sounds and Features Come to the Katana
Alongside the evolution of their Katana amps, Boss has also evolved its accompanying Tone Studio software.Featuring a refreshed interface,a number of parameters have been consolidated into the main screen to enhance workflow for users. Boss has also made a dedicated 'Pedal FX' category, whichmakesit easier to assign wah and pedal bend effects to a connected expression pedal. If you own a first-generation Boss Katana, it’s also possible to import your custom patches and use them all with a Katana MkII! Key Features Contour Settings -Shape your core tone with three different Contour settings, each with four customizable frequency curves to choose from. There’s just one thing… Boss makes quite a few different variations of the Katana, and every one of them is a little different. It raises the question: “Which should I get?”.
Optional GA-FC and GA-FC EX foot controllers provide complete amp control, including expanded Tone Setting selection, effects on/off, expression pedal control, and more. The Katana Artist is the flagship in the series. It’s got an improved 12 inch speaker, a hundred watts of power, and the buttons are on the front of the amp. The Katana 100 is basically the same as the 50, except it’s got a hundred watts instead of fifty, and it’s got an FX-loop. It also has four more channels spread over two banks.The Katana 50 for me is kind of your starter for 10, then you get the slightly more serious older brother in the guise of the Katana 100, and then the slightly more Pro and Articulate Artist Series - which delivers even more depth of detail. I am still adamant that Boss has the best range of solid state amps of any Amp Manufactures - and that range is even more rounded now with these 3 new additions. Five unique amp characters (Clean, Crunch, Lead, Brown, and Acoustic) and five variations for each.
