We got the 1-litre version for testing simply because we all wanted to try out a cup of coffee from seemingly the best cafetière in the UK. Did the Bodum Chambord 8 pass our expectations? Yes, and it exceeded them as well. This glass cafetière looks tremendously elegant, and the coffee-making experience is very refined. Filter screens with small amounts of granules and sediment earned higher filtration scores than those that let more through. Heat retention The stainless steel cafetieres cooled more slowly than any of the other cafetieres we tested. The best stainless steel cafetiere for heat retention lost less than half the heat in the first 10 minutes than the worst glass cafetiere did. You guessed it – it does also make a great cup of coffee. Available in two sizes (3 cup or 8 cup), you can select the size most suited for your kitchen and rest assured it will give great results every time.

Although there were one or two exceptions, we found most commonly in stainless steel cafetieres that extra effort was required to press them . Anyone who is concerned about how much effort they will need to press down their cafetiere should bear this in mind when choosing.

With a 1 litre capacity, I am struggling to find an attribute to this where it falls short of the competition. It looks great, and it makes wonderful coffee. Put this on your shortlist. However, if you find cleaning that filter a bit of a fiddly chore, then the One Brew definitely does have one up on the french press as it’s very easy to clean. As the name suggests, you can only make one cup at a time, but if this isn’t an issue, you’ll be pleased with its neat, minimalist design. I would wholeheartedly recommend that you consider this one – even if you don’t think you will use it that often. It will look fantastic on your shelf if nothing else!
