About this deal

A layer of either woven or non-woven fabric placed underneath artificial grass to prevent weed growth. In some cases it is not possible for us to specify in advance the periods for which your personal data will be retained. In such cases, we will determine the period of retention based on the following criteria: Grasser. One who gives information. A 'squealer’ or ‘squeaker'. The origin derives from rhyming slang: grasshopper - copper; a 'grass' or 'grasser' tells the 'copper' or policeman."

Grasses (Poaceae) are one of my favourite botanical illustration subjects. I adore drawing and painting them. I have written a blog on my passion for this family of plants before. However, I wanted to take another look at the way grasses are put together. I also want to introduce beginners to basic grass anatomy and terminology. This will help you start to understand these glorious and diverse plants. If the flowering spike is unbranched, with each individual spikelet attached to the central stem by a stem (or rachis) it’s known as a raceme (as with Rye grass Lolium perenne and Tor grass Brachypodium pinnatum). Grassing up' has been a commonly used expression in the UK since the mid 20th century, but is less common elsewhere. The first known use of 'grass' in that context is Arthur Gardner's Tinker's Kitchen, 1932, which defined a grass as "an informer". An edge restraint system used to retain the sub base and laying course material and provide an anchoring point for the perimeter of an artificial lawn. Natural Look® reduces the glare caused by reflection from synthetic fibres, ensuring a natural look from every angle.

The blades of grass grow up the culm like a tube, then grow outward. This encircling or tubular covering is known as a sheath. Sheaths may cling tight to the culm. They may be loose and inflated. This is yet another thing to look out for if you’re trying to i.d. a grass plant. Grasses include some of the most versatile plant life-forms. They became widespread toward the end of the Cretaceous. Fossilized dinosaur dung (coprolites) have been found containing grass phytoliths ( silica stones inside grass leaves). [8] Grasses have adapted to conditions in lush rain forests, dry deserts, cold mountains and even intertidal habitats, and are now the most widespread plant type. Grass is a valuable source of food and energy for many animals. [9] Grass and people

Piperno, Doris E. & Sues, Hans-Dieter 2010. Dinosaurs dined on grass. Science. 310 (5751), pp. 1126–1128. After reading this article 12 Confusing Lawn Care Terms Made A Bit Less Confusing, you won’t look at lawn care terminology like it’s hieroglyphics. What is an established lawn, and when can a lawn be considered established? A lawn is considered established after 1 year of having been sowed. This is when it is thoroughly rooted in the ground and has went through the growing season, had multiple cuts, a few feeds, and made it out the other end! Fertiliser can be applied to a new lawn, but avoid Feed, Weed and Moss Killer products until your lawn is established / reached its first birthday. Aww. A newly seeded lawn will ‘establish’ in 6-8 weeks – this means it qualifies for its first mow (it has grown to 5cm or taller), but will be fully ‘established’ in 12 months. 10. Annual / Perennial Terminologe located at Terminologe.com is an online store that is selling various products such as garden tool, felt plant grow bag, disposable fly collection bag, watering plant glass bulb, etc. And these products are sold at a suspicious discount rate.

We’ve created this glossary to give you clear definitions of the terms used by the artificial grass industry. Grass was a well-enough established word in the 1980s to have spawned 'supergrass', that is, a republican sympathiser who later 'turned Queen's evidence' and informed on the IRA, and which gave the Brit-pop band Supergrass their name in the 1990s.
