About this deal

Chaos Thwarted (899.M41) - A vast Word Bearers Traitor Legion voidship storms out of the Eye of Terror and sets a path towards Craftworld Il-Kaithe. In response, the Asuryani release their Ghost Warriors aboard the monstrous vessel. Battle rages within its cavernous corridors for several solar weeks, the Ghost Warriors enduring ferocious firepower from scores of Daemon Engines. Eventually, the tide of battle turns when, in one of the ship's rancid landing bays, three Il-Kaithe Wraithknights engage in combat with a debased Chaos Feral-class Titan. They finally blast it into the void of space and then begin the methodical slaughter of the remaining Chaos forces. There’s plenty of guidance on how to paint your chosen subfaction, as well as fascinating lore on their histories, victories, and defeats. The clarity of thought provided by the living twin ensures that the construct moves with the speed typical of the Aeldari race, whilst the psychic link between the pilot and their departed sibling allows them to commune with not only the animating forces of the twin, but also the spirits of former incumbents that once controlled the construct's long-limbed form. Many of the Asuryani wear highly polished Waystones upon their chests. At the precise moment an Asuryani dies, the wearer's soul becomes captured within this stone -- which is then known as a Spirit Stone.

Farseer Runes of Fate Powers rule harder than ever, with Guide now working on melee, and Will of Asuryan now being an exceptionally potent tool. There are also a bunch of relic weapons, and honestly you probably just don’t take these – they’re better than they were in 8th, generally, but none of them are transformational to a unit’s capabilities like some of the above are. The creation of a Wraithlord involves empowering an Asuryani Spirit Stone with the soul of a dead Craftworld Aeldari warrior from the Infinity Circuit of their craftworld. The soul is then placed into the forehead of a Wraithlord construct. Changes to the Web of Deceipt ability (action timing) and the limitation of Battle Focus (requiring you to have shot)Marching at the head of a spirit host, wordlessly guiding their actions, a Wraithseer still retains many of their former powers and instinct for battle. It is well that each Wraithknight is capable of such feats of heroism, for it is they who are at the forefront of the quest for new Spirit Stones. By passing through forbidden portals and traversing the shattered multidimensional spars of the Webway, Wraithknights can emerge onto the surface of the Crone Worlds, where the nature of realspace shears with that of the Warp. Ynnari work like a special Craftworld, though they have some unique rules to allow them to include Drukhari and Harlequins units along with Craftworlds ones. Standard Wraithlord equipment include two Power fists, with flamers or Shuriken Cannons attached to the side. In addition, some Wraithlords are equipped with heavy armaments such as Scatter Lasers, missile launchers, Bright Lances and starcannons. Weaponry is often chosen to complement the soul of the spirit controlling the Wraithlord, as their predisposition towards different types of combat follows them beyond death - those who favoured close combat will still attempt to tear their enemies limb from limb or cleave foes with a massive Ghostglaive. Wash the wings with Aethermatic Blue. I’ve done more playing with contrast since I did this model (see also HTPE: Yncarne) and if I was doing this again, I’d have done a gradual blend outwards from Akhelian Green to give a better effect. Suppressing Fire lets Swooping Hawks switch off enemy Overwatch and Actions, and against opponents who don’t have some sort of indirect to take them off the table can make them quite annoying. Boon: Wings covered it perfectly – I think there are some standouts worth the price, but the rest come in at premium prices on already premium-priced units that are just hard to justify. It really feels like these took across the board price increases or changes to their interaction of Exarch vs. unit late in design as their interactions on the table don’t feel justified. The only place I might disagree is on Shredding Fire which I think is quite the capability for a large Dire Avenger unit that may be coming in off a board edge or a Webway Gate against a Doom ’d unit. Stash hits or wounds if you’re about to go big with an “exploding” or mortals on 6s effect, or shoot Fire Prisms.I long to examine a wraith-construct with the Spirit Stone still intact. Alas, I have studied only fragments of an empty shell and nothing more. It is lifeless and full of mystery. I very much doubt we can understand such dangerous technology with our conventional understanding. In the wrong hands, one can only imagine the danger it presents to Mankind." The Aeldari Wraithlords stand significantly taller than a man, carry an array of weaponry and are a terrifying sight on the battlefield. Wraithlords have incredible strength even when bare-handed, but also sometimes carry a gigantic Wraithsword for close-combat. The rest of this section is fine, but not spectacular. Foot Autarchs have some cool builds, but aren’t any cheaper than bike ones if you take a mobility option, meaning Sunstorm probably leaves them in the dust. They also have the bizarre issue, as in Eldritch Omens, where the Autarch that’s on the cover of the codex isn’t a legal build. Yriel and Illic both still do some OK things, but Yriel is a foot Autarch with no mobility tools, and Illic is too highly priced to be a draw. Finally, if you just want the cheapest relevant HQ possible in some sort of skew build (or are going hard on Wraiths), Spiritseers exist. Should the Wraithlord fall in battle, the Spirit Stone will be recovered and either placed onto another Ghost Warrior construct, or be returned to the Infinity Circuit. That leaves Rangers, now forward deploying and with some anti-charge tech in the Wireweave Net , as your cheap Troops option. That’s fine , especially with Phantasm to redeploy as needed. You probably want access to a couple of units of these as a Craftworld player, and 3×5 lists probably do happen.

There’s a rich vein of fiction to explain the Aeldari in more detail. Gav Thorpe’s landmark omnibus, Path of the Eldar , covers many aspects of the Aeldari, while Ghost Warrior explores the newly formed Ynnari faction, and The Masque of Vyle focuses on the Harlequins. A Wraithlord, also called an Iron Knight, Wraith-giant and by the Imperium an Eldar Dreadnought, is a Craftworld Aeldari robotic combat walker known as a Ghost Warrior that contains no living pilot; rather, it is merely a robotic shell, a repository of the animating soul of a dead Asuryani hero. Wraithlords are graceful but mighty giants that dwarf their smaller Wraithguard Ghost Warrior cousins. Hail of Doom – automatic wounds on 6s to hit with Shurikens, which count as 6s to wound as well (so trigger extra Shuriken AP). Rules for constructing an Asuryani army, including one that draws on the strengths of the Ynnari (which we’ll look at later today). Making good Battalions has always been a challenge for the Asuryani, and this book is no different. Guardians and Storm Guardians both go up to 4+ saves, get AP on their weapons, and conditional re-roll 1s to hit (Defenders if they’re holding an objective, Storm Guardians if their target is), and that’s all neat, but a starting price tag of 90pts for ten Defenders, going up by at least 20 if you bring a platform, makes them pretty pricey for what you’re likely to get out of them. Storm Guardians are slightly cheaper, and bringing their fancy new Serpentscale Shield gives them some good anti-shooting defences, but that’s also 20pts meaning a squad jumps to 100. It feels like filling out armies with these is going to need you to take a Webway Gate, and at least there being able to reliably dump ten Storm Guardians onto an objective on turns two and three might be worthwhile, but it feels like in both cases the platforms could maybe have borne starting at a lower price.

How To Contact Us

In the earlier versions of Warhammer 40,000, the Wraithlord was simply a Dreadnought as fielded by any other of the fictional races of the game. The Spiritseer was the then-equivalent of the Wraithlord but retained the ability to use psychic powers in play. Wraithguards, supported by a Wraithknight of the Saim-Hann craftworld, take the battle to the Orks.

To round it all off, most of the green gems on the weapons were done by painting two coats of Ork Flesh straight out of the pot. However, this is by no means the cessation of an Asuryani's contribution to war, as under desperate conditions, an adroit Seer can be forced to withdraw a spirit from the Infinity Circuit and into a Spirit Stone once again. The name Skathach is possibly a reference to Scáthach, a legendary Scottish warrior-woman who trained the hero Cú Chulainn. Each carries either a pair of heavy Wraithcannons, their lengthy forms capable of sending their targets straight into the hell-dimension of the Warp; a Suncannon, powerful enough to obliterate a platoon of Human soldiers in a single blast of roiling fusion-generated plasma; or a great Ghostglaive and Scattershield with which to engage even the Daemon Lords of Chaos in single combat. Speed and precision are the name of the game, as most Aeldari units – from Aspect Warriors to Fire Prisms – can move fast and hit hard, but can’t weather much return fire. Aeldari armies are highly mobile, a specialised scalpel that can bring down a much more powerful opponent by careful application of incredible force. Toughness (this is HUGE. The difference between t7 and t8 is MASSIVE — all str 4 weapons are now doing half as much damage. 25% damage from str 8 weapons like melta and OC plasma) The following information is not to be regarded as officially sanctioned and/ or is not written from an in-universe point of view. A detailed explanation of the term "Trivia" as used in the Lexicanum can be found here. The Asuryani soul drawn from the Infinity Circuit resides within the wraithbone construct until such time as its power begins to fade and it can no longer function or it is destroyed, the spirit within tragically lost to the Warp and the hunger of Slaanesh.
