About this deal

I personally loved the three POVs, between Leo, Anna, and Leo's cousin/enemy Dean. It provided such a different dimension to this book, and set up Dean for his (dare I say) Draco Malfoy-style redemption arc (in book 3). Dean provided so much tension and angst - I think that if we hadn't gotten his POV the story wouldn't have been as interesting or dynamic. I loved him (and wondered why he wasn't the hero) - then I hated him, even when I kind of pitied him. It made me so excited for his book. I don’t want to trap you,” I say to Riona. “I want to unleash you. I want to set you free. I want to show you what you really are . . . The villain of the story was more interesting than the two of them but even by the end of it, I didn’t care for him. While this is a standalone story, I would imagine with Dean’s involvement we will get some of the loose plot threads wrapped up in his book. But she fought like a Valkyrie. Gorgeous, ferocious, and unbreakable. I saved her so I could make her mine. She says she’ll never submit to a man. I guess we’ll see… I’ll push her to the limit. And far beyond.”

I wanted to like this. I really did since it has dual virgins and it happens to be my favorite trope. Pls Remember that this is a dark romance kidnapping story! The characters in this book are not 100% in the head so keep that in mind while reading this review and reading this book! Leo is my new husband😋💘🦋, he's seriously so yum. I practically live for his personality. He's so charming aahhhh. He has a killer body and face + a killer personality, what do you want more? I love how he and his dad both have the same playful personality but still are different in some way or another. Luca cannot allow this woman to get the sapphire and get away. He’s the one that needs to acquire the gem. At the same time, he’s having a hard time fighting his feelings for this beautiful thief. They’re more than a match for each other, but someone’s got to win and someone’s got to lose in the end. The only question remaining is who will it be. She makes me feel things I never thought I could feel. Want things I never wanted. Only she can make me lose control. I don’t know if I should protect her at all costs… or destroy her before she ruins me. Mara knows I’m no saint. But she has no idea she’s dancing with the devil…”

Another thing that Sophie Larks continues to impress me with is her action scenes. This woman writes suspenseful and action scenes with such precision. I feel all of it. I have tons more to say, but I will just add a couple of more notes: this book is not "funny", it's better, it's humorous. I can say that for every Sophie Lark book though. That's another thing I love about these books: the tone is so serious, it's not the histrionic and impossible lighthearted fluff that makes me want to punch myself so my eye swells and I can't read. The stories are alive, gripping, the darkness doesn't make me roll my eyes or suffocate me, it is complemented by the beauty of love and the lightness of dry humor and wit. Also - the cameos had me screaming. How can they, without even stealing the scene? Now I can't wait for Sebastian's book. I think I'll just read Nessa's book again sometime, which is Yet Another Irrelevant Point that I want to make: I like how little, I think, we see of Nessa in the books after hers. It's like she and Miko retreated to the eerie, mesmerizing, lovely beauty and the beast atmosphere of the mansion and their own lives. One more moment of Riona stan behaviour: "“You wouldn’t shoot your Uncle . . . ” he says, his yellowed teeth bared in a stiff rictus of a smile. “I absolutely would,” I say. I pull the trigger, shooting him right between the eyes." No of course not😃 After that he watched her pleasure herself through the camera he placed in her room. I don’t think my girl knew that, she never mentioned she knew it if I’m right so wtf? Like wtf? Pls don’t, pls. Don’t. That made me very uncomfortable I’m sorry 😭

Within the first few chapters I had a feeling this was gonna be good, and godDAMN the book did not disappoint.

Anyways many things about him just didn’t sit well with me. The fact that he THOUGHT about undressing her while she was unconscious so she can be scared when she wakes up was already bad enough, but I’m happy he didn’t actually do it. I don’t want to trap you,” I say to Riona. “I want to unleash you. I want to set you free. I want to show you what you really are . . . ” Next- we enjoy a Beauty and the Beast tale delivered Mafia style with the Stolen Heir, the second book of the Brutal Birthright Series. This is a darker, gothic story, a stand-alone of the Enemies to Lovers Romance. Again, this story is presented with no cliffhangers and has an HEA ending. The bedroom scenes are hot as a pistol and are written for mature readers only! When Anna and Leo finally got together, we get one sex scene and then a time jump. I wanted to see them together growing as a couple, not being told that now they are happy. The rest of the book they just have sex and that's it.

I have to give it to this book though - it's not often that we get female characters like Riona (STILL, still not often enough!) and I loved how she was written. Unapologetically ambitious, driven, straightforward, outspoken and blunt, a little bit cold on the outside, not a fan of conventions and fake pleasantries. That alone made me adore her, and then on top of that she would also say totally relatable things like these: Here’s the problem: I’m in deep trouble with a dirty cop. The only person who can save me is Nero. We’re not friends. If he saw me drowning, he’d throw me an anchor. aida has to be one of the funniest fmc out there because i was reading this book in the middle of the night and started giggling. actually giggling. she’s a genius with a top tier humor & i want to be her. their pull and push was just so good and entertaining Synopsis: “Your First Love Is With You Always… Two gorgeous billionaire bachelors have come to New York City, and Anika Knight has an unfortunate connection to both of them… Marco Moretti is the Italian playboy trying to take over her family’s business. But he’s planning another kind of hostile takeover – of Anika herself.

The Brutal Birthright Series in Order (6 Books)

The relationship with the brothers made me very emotional- I literally cried 💀 bc of personal reasons I always become a mess reading about such relationships whether it is with brothers or whatever. I loved and hated those scenes at the same time but anyways we stan Sebastian bc he got two knees but only one sister jumping off a cliff right now. Author’s additional notes: “I knew I had to end the Brutal Birthright series with the biggest twists, the most intense action, and the hottest hero yet. I’ve always had a soft spot for Sebastian from the very first book – you’re going to be so surprised where his journey takes him!” Sinners Duet Series Before I start my usual routine and name all the things that didn’t work for me I wanna say that I genuinely think this was a well written, and overall good book. After reading most of Sophie’s books I can definitely say that she’s the best at writing action or tension filled active scenes which is why I wish she would include more scenes like that and generally more mafia action in her books. Now onto Leo and Anna…. I adore the childhood friends to lovers trope. It makes my heart so happy. I also like that their love was somewhat forbidden. Leo was so protective of Anna and they just cared so much about each other!!! Ugh I love them so much. Their story was everything and I am so content with the ending.

Aida who is heartily regretting annoying the Griffins, if only because I’m going to be trapped here until the end of time while Fergus and Papa talk and talk and talk forever . . .”

I saw him in a cloud of smoke, like sin made flesh. Even bruised and battered, I’d never seen anything more beautiful...
