The Illuminations are one of the region's top autumn events and will run every weekend from Saturday, September 9. Once again the Derwent Gardens and Lovers’ Walks will be decorated with colourful lights illuminating the village. Renfrewshire has firmly established itself as a key destination on Scotland’s events map and the programme is part of a wider plan to attract visitors and drive footfall to our town centres and villages. Widely regarded as one of the best events of its kind in the UK, Paisley Halloween Festival will return with a spine-tingling programme of thrills and frights for all the family in October. The Winter Wonderland Walk has become a Christmas tradition for many families and is a must-see every year at Springfields!

The event is taking place on Saturday, November 26, from 10am until the early evening, with plenty going on around The Quay, Middle Street, Fore Street and elsewhere. A wonderful fireworks finale will take place every Saturday in October and also on the final night, Sunday, October 29. Every Illuminations night will once again be themed for younger visitors. The holiday takes its name from a famous dispute between the local shawl weavers and manufacturers in the 19th century and is held on the first Saturday in July to mark the time of year when the weavers and their families would traditionally take their holidays. Proceeds from the Winter Wonderland Walk will go to the Lincolnshire NHS Charity, supporting Johnson Community Hospital in Spalding. Summer will also see the return of the Renfrew Pipe Band Competition, which takes place at Robertson Park on Saturday 22 July. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm; andSaturday, 9am to 4pm, The Stories We Chose To Tell - Exhibition, An exciting photography exhibition developed through a collaboration between award-winning documentary photographer Rich Wiles and eight young people from Rotherham. The young participants set out with disposable cameras to produce images exploring elements of their own lives and identity, which will be presented alongside a series of collaborative portraits in which Wiles pressed his camera's shutter release but the context and locations again came from the young participants. All participants chose which aspects of their lives to present through this work. They also selected their own final images and have added text layers to further amplify their voices.
