Hisense TVs are often among our mid-range and budget-friendly recommended TVs. It’s simple enough to rearrange apps according to preference, and the algorithms don’t take too long to start recommending stuff you might actually be interested in watching. And the VIDAA Free channel has some worthwhile stuff in amongst the dross, too – I was certainly pleased to be served The Limey during the course of this test. Laser TVs also come with a screen that the projector beams onto and this will need to be wallmounted. It even has built-in speakers, which is unusual for a projector screen. With SDR content it fires on more cylinders. As is Hisense’s trademark, images are delivered with a strong sense of colour – primary colours have the look of children’s colouring book in how punchy they look. Complexions are warmly expressed (perhaps overcooked in some places) but it makes for an attention-grabbing image. Atmos is designed to send sound over your head, or at least simulate it. Since most TVs don't have speakers pointed upwards this effect tends to be negligible.
Most OLED TVs with the same screen size will cost around twice as much as the U8H while offering considerably lower picture brightness. So if that specific attribute is important to you, you will find the value proposition of Hisense’s U8H to be irresistible.

Hisense is known for making low-cost TVs, but a low price doesn’t always mean a good value. With its powerful brightness and overall very good picture quality, strong feature set including wide-ranging support for next-gen gaming consoles, and affordable price, the U8H counts as an excellent overall value.
