Honor promises that you’ll get up to 19.5 hours of continuous local video streaming with the Honor 90, and I found that claim to be true in my testing. The phone will comfortably last a full day in all but the most demanding use cases. The Honor 90 Lite runs on Android 13, but with a custom Magic UI 7.1 slathered on top. As with previous Honor phones, this doesn’t seem to offer the optimal Android experience. It’s a cluttered, clumsy UI with needless embellishments like super-sized folders and a split notification pane. Actual available memory/storage is less than this value due to system occupation. Options with other specific test environments (please refer to each specific description). Actual use may vary slightly due to The Honor 90 Lite’s piddly 5MP ultrawide isn’t a strong performer either, offering a washed-out approximation of the main sensor’s palette, with noticeably poor detail as you move out towards the edges of the frame. It also struggles with overexposure, blowing out highlights on a moderately sunny day. The final sensor in this nominal trio is a 2MP macro camera. Making a camera that’s supposed to highlight close-up detail with such a low resolution is rather counter-intuitive. Sure enough, this sensor struggles with detail, contrast and exposure, and as such is a total waste of time.

The actual photo resolution may be different The supported maximum wired charging power for HONOR 90 is 66W when going with the original SuperChargeThe difference between the Honor 90’s display and those used on comparable mid-rangers, though, is its eye-friendliness. The Honor Magic 5 Pro earned plaudits for being the first phone to feature Honor’s proprietary Circadian Night Display technology, which effectively filters blue light to encourage natural melatonin secretion in the user and improve the quality of their sleep. The Honor 90 comes equipped with the same screen smarts, as well as an impressive 3840Hz PWM dimming cycle rate that helps to minimize strain on the eyes. When put to the test however, I found the Honor 90’s main camera to be more than up to the task in almost all scenarios, pumping out plenty of social media-worthy shots with very little effort. The video quality enhancement effect includes the transition from SDR to HDR, HDR10 improvement, and Lastly I tested the Honor 90's selfie camera with its impressive 50MP sensor. It still takes 12MP resolution images like the Pixel 7a, but produces an overall cooler shot, in a reversal from what we saw with the Honor's rear cameras. The detail of both shots is similar, but the strength and accuracy of the Pixel 7a's portrait effect is much better here, although neither phone did a good job at capturing the edge of my glasses.

The 16MP front camera is a strong performer, taking flattering photos with a modest yet welcome level of beautification. Whichever camera you’re using, though, video caps out at 1080p (30fps) – not 4K, and its picture and digital stabilization is only ever fine. Performance and battery: Value champThe data comes from HONOR Lab, and the actual experience shall prevail, local video is only for 720P. The 50MP front camera is a strong performer too, providing decent detail, contrast and colour depth, while skin tones are on point. Honor has also offered two shooting angles – one normal 1x, and one zoomed-out 0.8x option. There’s only the one selfie camera around front, so there’s clearly cropping involved here (hence the megapixel boost), but it’s an effective mid-range camera solution. The 2MP macro camera should be avoided – crop into a shot taken on the main camera and you can likely get better results, so while the Honor 90 Lite is technically a quad-camera phone, there’s only one good camera here.
