About this deal

The thing is… I love Lauren Child. Love her. I know I already said that, but there is something (or many somethings) that I really like about her and her style and her voice. From her children’s book illustrations to the spunky attitude of all her characters, I have been caught by the whole shebang hook, line, and sinker. So perhaps its not for everyone, but it is for me. And it is for plenty of people. Especially Brits? Maybe. But Charlie and Lola hold their own here in the US. The thing is… my daughter doesn’t like them. She is a fan of fantasy and mystery and also very much of mixed-up fairy tales. Ruby Redfort falls into the secret agent mystery category. Although not a big fan of Clarice Bean, I thought Windsor would like these more because of the mystery. But she has set them aside, twice, to continue plowing through yet another mixed-up fairy tale series (even though I found the other series inferior…) and has yet to finish even the first one. A quote I liked was one of Ruby's rules : "Even the mundane can tell a story." I liked this quote because I thought it was a very useful rule. I thought that maybe I should pay more attention to mundane things and piece them together to make a story like Ruby does.

There’s a lot to lose sleep over in Twinford: there’s the snakes and the bivalves, but they aren’t half as poisonous as the rumours. With so many twists and turns it’s hard to know who to trust, particularly when no one trusts you. Will Ruby make it out in one piece? Well, happy endings are for fairy tales, bozo.

Child grew up in Wiltshire as the middle child of three sisters and the daughter of two teachers. She has always been interested in the many aspects of childhood, from gazing into toy shop windows to watching American children's shows from the 1960s. After attending two Art Schools, she travelled for six months, still unsure about which career to embark upon.

Spectrum is a top secret spy agency, and Ruby is about to become one of their newest recruits. But it isn't easy to keep her new profile away from her best friend, Clancy, who soon notices a change when Ruby's family get a new butler (ruby's bodyguard in disguise). Although Ruby's job is a desk agent looking for clues in a recently dead Agent Lopez's documents, she figures out that Lopez wanted a bit more of the action. anyway, i can imagine that this book could be very appealing to my twelve-year-old self, so probably any twelve to thirteen-year-old right now can find it interesting. I liked the way the book had lots of bold text and diagrams. The bold text drew my interest to them and made the book seem more exciting and at times, witty. In this book there is a lot of math and code in this book so the diagrams helped me understand some of the most important parts of the mystery Ruby was solving, and didn't leave me feeling extremely confused.THIS IS THE BEST DETECTIVE BOOK EVER WRITTEN!! It contains codes, thefts, kidnapping, snooping and a huge amount of sarcasm😂 And the best thing is that it is a middle grade!!❤️❤️ Another great instalment to the Ruby Redfort series! To think that it is the supposed second-to-last novel! Yes it is a kids book... but I used to read clarice bean as a child and I couldnt miss this new series! Hitch was awesome, I loved how he was a secret agent, but also a butler/house keeper. He really reminded me of Sebastian from Kuroshitsuji. He is a perfect butler with a double agenda. I loved how caring and protective he was about Ruby. I would see him not only as a butler, or a house keeper, but also as one of her friends.

I started reading and I was instantly hooked. It was amazing. It had many unpredictable moments, twists and turns witch I liked very much, cool kind of font through out the book, a great story line and Ruby wore some really funny slogan shirts witch made me laugh. It took me about 9 days to finish, considering it was a big book with small font I was impressed. Her book I Will Not Ever Never Eat A Tomato won the 2000 Kate Greenaway Medal. For the 50th anniversary of the Medal (1955–2005), a panel named it one of the top ten winning works, which comprised the shortlist for a public vote for the nation's favourite. It finished third in the public vote from that shortlist. Despite all this bad, I still enjoyed it. Clancy and his extreme fear of the ocean was the likely to be the most hilarious in the book. Miss Digby and Hitch are still the same, with their witty remarks and the Count remains evil. There was one thing I didn't particularly like and that was how some of the conversations suddenly went italic. It was a bit confusing, one moment you would be reading normal and then italics. And it didn't happen with each conversation, so eh. The characters are excellente. They are amazingly orchestrated and the banter between all the characters was hilarious. What was refreshing was the bond between Clancy & Ruby. No. Let me guess, Romance? Nope, it's not. It's pure friendship. No, the antagonists have my respects. They were likeable, a bit dramatic, but awesome! i've had a think and i believe that Henry Cavill would make an excellent Hitch. also this book is a great one. my second fav potentially? good things. Yeah, she already believes you’re a butler; you don’t need to make out you’re the best entire one to ever polish on this earthly universe of Twinford.”
