About this deal

A 2018 Most Anticipated Young Adult book from debut author Adrienne Young, Sky in the Deep is part Wonder Woman, part Vikings—and all heart. A unique premise, with great pacing and a protagonist who I found myself favoring. She’s not necessarily likeable, but I found myself able to relate to her in quite a few ways (I’m not a half, but was born and raised in Japan). She stood, shifting an armful of axes up onto her shoulder. "I was there that day, Eelyn. Iri died. I saw it with my own eyes. That was real." It was the same battle that took Mýra’s sister. We’d been friends before that day, but we hadn’t really needed each other until then. Two regions are at war and every 5 years there is a battle between the two. This year Eelyn was taken and sold to the enemy. While she is a slave there she finds her brother. Living with them, working with them, he was supposed to be dead. Killed by them but obviously he wasnt and hes aliveand well and didnt have the decency to tell his sister that he was alive and that he decided to join the enemy. Sparse open clusters contain less than a hundred stars, while rich ones may have thousands. Open clusters form from nebulae. All open clusters are relatively young objects, generally no more than a few hundred million years old. We know the open clusters we observe are young because given enough time, the stars in an open cluster disperse due to gravitational interaction within the cluster. If we were able to follow a single open cluster from its formation, we would see the cluster disperse stars throughout its entire galactic journey. Approximately 1,700 open clusters are known.

And they couldn’t have been. Because it was Iri, and the last time I saw my brother was five years ago. Lying dead in the snow. TWO A rousing saga and moving coming-of-age tale, perfect for those who appreciate the wild and the wildlings, strong female protagonists, and cinematic battles. Young’s often poetic writing forms a stark juxtaposition with her vivid descriptions of battle and bloodshed, creating a clear picture of the brutality of war." — Publishers Weekly The Deep Sky is an epic space thriller that doesn’t let you forget about the humanity of the people that go on adventures like these. It is wide in scope and sincere in characterization. In an striking balance, it makes us think about how the earth came to the brink of demise while

She dropped to the ground and the blade plunged into the chest of a Riki, sending him to his knees. His huge body fell onto her, pinning her to the dirt. The blood bubbling up from his mouth poured out, covering her pale skin in a stark shining red. Determined to unravel the truth and preserve the mission's integrity, Asuka races against time to unmask the perpetrator before faith in their mission crumbles entirely—or worse, before the bomber strikes again. As tensions mount and trust wanes, the fate of their collective survival rests on Asuka's relentless pursuit of justice amidst the vast expanse of space. Overall, I was impressed with this as a debut story. It's complex, multifaceted and thought-provoking. I look forward to reading more from this author in the future.

Bleak, beautiful, and deadly, Sky in the Deep is both a gritty, gut-wrenching tale of war and a thoughtful meditation on identity, family, and faith–a story with the ferocity of its main character as well as her raw and tender heart.”Asuka has trained most of her life to be selected to go on the world’s last ditch effort to save humanity. And, estranged from her mother, The Phoenix and it’s crew are all she has left. So when an explosion happens on the spaceship, Asuka is determined to find the cause of the explosion before everyone in the crew loses faith in the mission. I found my father’s face across the field, where the fog was still pulling up from the land like a lifting cloud. Halvard, the little boy in the book that melts the ice around Eelyn’s heart. I love him. Do you write listening to music? If so, what music inspired or accompanied this current book?
