About this deal

DiskStation models come with a propriety Linux-derived operating system, known as DiskStation Manager. DiskStation Manager comes with a very intuitive web-based interface that feels like you're using a desktop computer, complete with easy to identify icons, well laid out menus, and abundant help files. In addition to core NAS features like file management, you can add a large array of custom plugins that handle things like organizing your family photos, torrenting files, and everything in between. The end result is a multi-function device that can perform the tasks of a full size computer, but without the energy consumption. (Even the beefiest DiskStation models consume less than half what a desktop computer or full size home server would.) PCIe add-in cards, expansion units, and storage drives are sold separately. Refer to the compatibility list for compatible devices. My thoughts: Synology DiskStation DS3622xs+ gets far more right than it does wrong. There are 12 drive bays that can be expanded, so too can the 16GB of DDR4 RAM. The dual 10Gb LAN ports are also impressive.

All NAS drives can be accessed locally over the network, as well as secure remote access is possible with brand supported services (at no additional cost) The main reason for featuring the TeraStation 3410DN by Buffalo on this list of best 4 bay NAS devices is thanks to it including four hard drives with the NAS itself. The Synology DiskStation Manager is an excellent operating system and is what you’ll find on all branded enclosures. It truly shines on the DS220+. The two 1Gb LAN ports can be linked together for additional network bandwidth too. It has everything you need in a mid-range NAS enclosure, including an Intel Celeron processor, two drive bays, upgradeable RAM, and two 1Gb LAN ports. Interestingly, no matter which NAS you choose from Synology, you’ll be able to enjoy the company’s excellent operating system, DSM. You’ll be able to access all of your files, even when on the go, in a convenient and straightforward way.CPU: Realtek RTD1296 | Drive bays: 2 | RAM: 512MB DDR4 | Features: 1x 1Gb LAN, 2x USB 3.0, upgradable RAM If the DS220+ isn't quite good enough for your needs or simply seek something with a little more functionality, the DS420+ is a great step up and takes our runner-up spot. Because we're looking at an additional two bays, Synology included an extra fan, which means the DS420+ runs cool, and you barely notice any noise.

Many thx if someone far more intelligent then me , possible a bit younger while containing much more knowledge then me could help me. If I were to recommend one of the NAS devices featured on this list, it would have to be the Synology 4 Bay NAS DiskStation DS418 . Otherwise, extremely good YouTube channel on which I spent well to much time ( 🙂 ). Thanks for doing this great job.In terms of physical buttons, some devices will have a “copy” button which is designed to make copying the contents of an external storage device, such as a USB flash drive, to the NAS with just the press of a button.

It features a quad-core 2.0 GHz CPU, 2GB of DDR3 RAM, two Gigabit Ethernet ports and an HDMI port for an external video and audio connection. The RAM is even upgradeable with a maximum of 8GB being accepted should you want that extra bit of performance. My thoughts: If you’re looking at the DS220+ as the perfect NAS but find the two drive bays a little too limiting for storage capacity, the DS420+ may be a better option. It has four drive bays and even SSD caching support. Support for Both SATA and M.2 NVMe SSD Bays**: All top 4-Bay NAS drives this year feature this essential hardware capability. The 2GB of DDR4 RAM can be expanded to 6GB should you require more system memory, but the initial amount should be more than enough to start with. Then there are the four drive bays, which can allow for up to 72TB.
