About this deal

Micalea Smeltzer’s writing style seamlessly navigates the highs and lows of the characters’ emotions, delivering a rollercoaster of feelings to the reader. At times somber, at others sweet and swoony, the chemistry between Salem and Thayer is portrayed with poetic precision. Their connection feels authentic and soul-deep, making it impossible not to be emotionally invested in their love story. Salem feels an instant connection to Thayer even though she knows it is wrong. There is something calming about Thayer, and it is with him that she finally finds peace from her nightmares and a partner she can confide in. I loved how much Thayer cared for Salem and all the little things he did without her knowing because he just wanted her to know that she mattered and that someone cared for her. Like, this man was the softest grump ever!

So much of this book didn’t need to be there and added nothing to the story. (Also a problem in book one but I was willing to let it go) But by the end I was just mad at myself for wasting my time. what was the point of marrying him????? I can see the need for the time jump. And not telling him above seda. But why marry him??? KNOWING you love another man more. The love-story itself was... just no? There was no spark (hell, there wasn’t even a little microscopic twinge), no chemistry, and the whole plot was just a succession of embarrassing moments and equally embarrassing dialogues (and actually unspeakably embarrassing thoughts from our brilliant contradiction of a MC). And it was just so BORING. Gah.

Omg Caleb is so incredibly sweet. Please tell me he gets a book! I literally started crying. I’m pretty sure I love him more than them. No offense to Caleb, but you're her mom. I don't just mean that in the DNA sense. You're the one who's stayed at home with her and all that. Besides, he works long hours. I don't think he can be as stable for her as he'd like to think he can be. He's being selfish. Seda needs to be with you, and he can have her some weekends." The story revolves around Salem, an eighteen-year-old navigating the uncertain waters of young adulthood. Her life takes an unexpected turn when Thayer Holmes, a grumpy landscaper, moves in next door and offers her a job as a nanny for his adorable son. What follows is a passionate and unconventional love story that defies societal norms due to a significant age gap. And after all this, after she finally tells him the truth at 30%, nothing really happens for the final 70%. It’s basically one long epilogue. No angst. No conflict. Nothing. So it was really all for nothing. Which makes me wish that this story had ended in book one and I could have avoided all this unnecessary drama and frustration. The pace is slow at first but once you get accustomed to it, you start to enjoy it. The way it's written might feel slightly odd, but it is written from the POV of an 18 year old so it does make sense. It was an addicting read. I devoured it in a day. The plot on the surface seems simple enough but the characters is what bring depth to it.

I had this wonderful feeling this would be bought in physical copy like I did Sweet Dandelion and put on my special shelf. I just can’t and I don’t think I’m going to read the sequel. I think I’ll try some of her other books to see if I find a love like Sweet Dandelion! There was sadness through some part of the book, but in the end everything was alright. Their love was just epic. I am glad that somehow Thayer was the instigator of the love this time and that he decided to be happy once one for all. After all Salem was his one and true love. Micalea Smeltzer’s The Confidence of Wildflowers is a tale of unexpected love, age-gap romance, and the tumultuous journey of two souls finding solace in each other’s company. As I sat down to review this book, I realized that it left me with a whirlwind of emotions, making it challenging to distill my thoughts into a coherent review. This book is an intricate dance between heartache and hope, and it’s one that I won’t soon forget. Now I'm paying the price of that and the only thing that can make me feel better in this moment is to get me book two right now!!! The Confidence Of Wildflowers is not your typical forbidden steamy romance. This was the story about two people who found the best in each other and decided that they were worth it. Their past didn't matter and in their own way, they helped each other healed. This was a slow burn addictive story that showed you all of the sides to loving and being in love with someone that you didn't see coming. It heartwarming, sweet, sexy, charming and when you least expected it, it tugged on your heartstrings and made you appreciate life even more.
