About this deal

Fears centers around Scarecrow and his attempt to frighten Batman down to his core. While the caped crusader comes off as a bit amateurish this time around, it does bring to light his buried quest to find happiness. This desire clouds his judgement when as Bruce Wayne, a love interest enters his life.

Batman: Madness takes place during Batman's early vigilante career. The Mad Hatter abducts a teenager Barbara Gordon – new to Gotham City and traps her in a house filled with his warped Wonderland obsession. It is up to Batman to rescue her and to restore a relationship of a returning James Gordon. The premise of fighting Scarecrow on a Halloween night had potential to make for a very interesting Batman story, but this story was dull and uninspired overall. The story-telling and characterization were poorly done, and for being a Scarecrow-Halloween story it barely had fear playing any major role. This story was mostly: Batman chasing after scarecrow or Bruce chasing after a girl. anyway the spirits teach batman to have some me time and to try and make a legacy for himself outside of crime fighting. Jillian : "Bruce... for a man who could have anything he wanted... why do I have the sense that you rarely get what you want? Madness gives us a story involving The Mad Hatter as he forces Batman to confront his unresolved issues surrounding his parents death. The story was unoriginal to say the least, in fact, it was almost painfully cliche. Batman fights the scarecrow and got poisoned with 'Scarecrow Poison' causing Batman to lapse into a dream where he marries a girl he just met. Upon waking, he decided to abandon his crusade (which we all know will NOT happen) and leave with the girl from his dream. Alfred saved the day by informing Bruce that the girl was not being completely honest. Hearing the news, Bruce had a change of plans and saved Gotham city. If that isn't cliche I don't know what is.

Batman by Jeph Loeb & Tim Sale Omnibus is a wonderful collection of the works of Jeph Loeb and Tim Sales and is recommended to those that love their work. It is safe to say that this omnibus is the definitive tome for this Dynamic Duo team. ORIGINS: Batman: Year One and/or Zero Year and/or Golden Age origin story (first appeared in Detective Comics #33, reprinted in Batman #1) The first time Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale teamed up on Batman was for three Halloween specials for “Legends of the Dark Knight.” It was later reprinted as “Haunted Knight” to make for a fun and creepy anthology series inspired by Halloween and classic horror stories. Using some of the key villains from Batman’s Rogues Gallery, Loeb sets them against The Dark Knight in ways meant to excite and terrify. A great read for this time of year, it may not have the recognition of the creative duos other outings, but it is a must for fans of this team, and of this era of “Batman.” It is because of this that fans were graced with “The Long Halloween,”“Dark Victory,” and “Catwoman: When in Rome.”Scarecrow on the other hand, was busy blowing up power stations so he could loot the city in the dark, because that is definitely something the scarecrow would do. And here I was thinking he was obsessed with fear. Besides, didn't 'Scarecrow Poison' make people fearful and afraid? Then why did Batman dream of a relatively happy thing? And how did Halloween play a part in any of this? Bruce's father : "These chains I wear, I forged in life. Link by link, yard by yard, I made this burden. Obsessed with my medical practice, I lost sight of what was truly important." Honestly this was a great Batman book and I enjoyed it from beginning to the end. Loeb and Tim Scale are too good when they collab together. so far what I've found after reading around 4 books written by this duo is that Loeb writes his stories in a way that they doesn't feel like a coherent plot, I mean his story moves in circular way instead of linear way. And his stories are always a character study, rather than a plot.

Batman: Choices takes place during Batman’s early vigilante career. The Scarecrow is on the prowl in Gotham City, forcing Batman into a furiously frightful game of cat and mouse. While as Bruce Wayne, he meets a bewitching Jillian Maxwell – a woman whose allure sways his personal feelings almost as effectively as Scarecrow's fear gas.Jeph Loeb and Tim Sale are my favorite duo when it comes to writing and drawing Batman comics and sadly, this is the last comic I hadn't had read from them. This collects Choices, Madness and Ghosts, three short stories that were conceptually at different times but all take place on Halloween in Gotham City. Batman haunted knight - haunted knight is a collection of 3 short stories you could say, one being about scarecrow, one being about mad hatter and commissioner Gordon and the last being about penguin and batman finding out how in the future when he dies no one will care and the name Batman in the future will be useless to everyone. It's to make sure that as few people as possible will feel the same pain he does. Despite the many years that have gone by, that little boy who lost everything he loved that night, is still there. The Haunted Knight Absolute Edition comprises of four stories. The first three, 'Fears', 'Madness' and 'Ghosts' were originally released as Halloween special issues of Legends of the Dark Knight between 1993 and 1995. These three issues later inspired the same creative team to create The Long Halloween. The fourth story in this book, 'Catwoman: When in Rome', is set parallel to the later issues of Dark Victory and showcase Catwoman's adventures during her absence after The Long Halloween and during the first half of Dark Victory. The short stories make up roughly a third of this book, while the latter two thirds feature Catwoman's miniseries. The graphic novel reprints Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special #1 (1993), Batman: Madness - A Legends Of The Dark Knight Halloween Special (1994), and Batman: Ghosts - A Legends of the Dark Knight Halloween Special (1995) written by Loeb and art by Sale respectively. These stories were specials and spin-offs of Batman: Legends of the Dark Knight series.

A side note: I love playing I Spy The Quote From One of Nolan's Films. From Fears, "Professor Crane isssn't here right now. But, if you'd like to make an appointment--?"Madness" tells the story of Captain James Gordon's daughter, Barbara, being kidnapped by the Mad Hatter and forced to participate in a twisted tea party with other kidnapped children. Batman and Gordon finally save Barbara and bring down the Mad Hatter. This is the opening of only the first of the three stories in Haunted Knight. The collection reprints "Fears," "Madness," and "Ghosts," three collaborations between Jeph Loeb’s writing and Tim Sale’s art that became yearly Halloween specials in DC’s Legends of the Dark Knight title from 1993 through 1995. In each story, Bruce Wayne faces a challenge that calls the fundamental principles of his life into question. What is there to say about Long Halloween that hasn't been said? Its a sequel to Miller's Year One that bridges the gap to Batman's modern era. Its moody, its scary, its cool, and I recommend it. Unfortunately it casts a long shadow. And in that shadow, you will find Dark Victory.
