The EYFS only applies to schools and early years providers in England. There are different early years standards in Scotland and early years standards in Wales. Each of the four Specific Areas in EYFS is divided into further 'subsections' and have an individual 'Early Learning Goal' (ELG). These Early Learning Goals are approached as children prepare to transition to KS1 and use the skills and attributes learned throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage to support children in transitioning to the National Curriculum.
