About this deal

I paired my mayo with (of course) some chips, and it tasted spot on. It was quite a strong flavour, but that's exactly what I love about mayo. For 69p, it's such a bargain considering it tastes so much like the real deal. I'll definitely be swapping to this one, no doubt about it. We would be cautious when purchasing supermarket Tzatziki since it can often contain olive oil which pushes the syns up.

Salad cream is a staple for many of us, on salads and even sandwiches, it uses around 2.5 syns a tablespoon, but is available in lighter forms too which reduce the syns slightly. We would suggest measuring out your salad creamrather than simply drizzling it to avoid going over your syns. Sweeteners like canderel sweetenerare excellent alternatives to normal sugar for sweetening your drinks or using in baked goods. For example, standard white sugartypically has 2.5 syns a tablespoon while on average sweetener has 0.5 syns for a tablespoon. Agave syrupis popular in the diet industry since it's a low syn sweetener, but still natural. This syrup has about 0.5 syns a teaspoon, making it very low in syns. These weightings are based on how consumers rank the importance of different attributes of mayonnaise. Recycling your mayo bottlesThere's nothing like a bit of mayo to dunk your chunky chips into, but sometimes, the big brands can come at a cost. JD seasoningsare popular among slimmers on the plan since they are all syn free and can seriously upgrade the taste of your dinner! When it was squeezed and spread onto a ham sandwich it didn't taste quite so vinegary, but it didn't really taste like much at all. It had quite a thin creamy consistency, but the flavour just got completely lost. My children, who don't even like mayonnaise, tried some and said they couldn't taste it either. Sadly it won't be a switch for me. Vegan mayo is often pricier. For example, Hellmann’s vegan mayo costs about 25% more than its standard squeezy bottle.

Heinz Seriously Good mayonnaise has an almost identical list of ingredients, but on the front it says there are no added colours, flavours or artificial ingredients. Lighter versions

If you are a mayonnaise lover, you might struggle with their syns, but why not try making your syn free mayo at home which is guilt-free!

Sainsbury’s and Waitrose tied with Lidl on score, but both are a little pricier. If you're looking to switch from branded mayo, these are all good cheaper options depending on what your nearest supermarket is. Whether you are looking to make cajun pasta dinners or a medium curry, they have an extensive range of syn free flavourings without added syns from milk powder or other standard ingredients in seasonings. Salt levels are medium to high, while protein, fibre and sugar are all low. All-in-all, mayonnaise is a condiment to be enjoyed in moderation. What about light mayo?
