About this deal

The basket in particular will appeal to those who like to load up with baby essentials for a day out. If it’s purely a travel option, you might want something less expensive depending on how much travelling you’re likely to do. The Joolz Aer is super compact and what most parents love is the fact that it looks like a luxury full-size stroller, but it’s compact and light when folded. I often see some parents swapping their big strollers like Uppababy for smaller alternatives and Joolz is a perfect option for downsizing. While our tester found that this method cleaned it effectively, some users might prefer to be able to completely remove the cover and give it an immersive clean, which isn’t possible with this model. Designed to make traveling with your little one as smooth and comfortable as possible, the Aer+ provides even more features than its predecessor. Weighing only 6kg and airplane compatible, the Aer+ is the ultra-compact travel companion for all your adventures.

We've improved the wheel design, providing 4-wheel suspension for a smooth ride, and added LED light compatibility for safety in low-light conditions. The Aer+ is sturdy and well-engineered, with a premium feel that sets it apart. The generous shoulder strap and foldable bumper bar makes it incredibly easy to carry the stroller wherever you go. I believe the basket may have a bigger volume – I will update with exact numbers when I have that information available to me. But I wouldn’t have noticed a difference if I hadn’t heard that it was supposed to be a bigger basket.

Are there any extra features?

When it first launched it wasn’t, but now Joolz Aer is suitable for a newborn with a cot. The stroller folds with the bassinet attached (makes it a little bigger though), which is fantastic. This stroller came all assembled, which already made me feel relieved because you have enough to deal with as a parent. Everything is ready to go straight out of the box! It’s a dream to fold and unfold one-handed in one fluid movement, which makes it particularly useful to store and to use on public transport. The canopy is minimally larger and the huge peekaboo mesh is smaller, but still doesn’t offer the flap.

Again – it’s a refinement – not a big updated, but I love the way that Joolz as a brand do make these little changes with new models, even if only someone like me would even notice! Fractionally Bigger Basket The Joolz Aer comes straight out of the box ready to unfold and go, with no assembly needed. The box is itself a Joolz feature, with eye-catching instructions for turning it into a toy airplane for your child. The wheels are high-quality, with grooves that help the buggy take on bumps with surprising ease. Our parent tester, Adele, took the Joolz Aer around a grassy park, along city pavements and on country walks. It’s also worth mentioning that Joolz comes with a rain cover already included while + does not. It’s a nice gesture to include it when many competing brands make customers pay extra for it. If you’re looking for a smaller main pushchair from six months on without compromising on the smoothness of the ride, the Joolz Aer might be for you. Would Joolz Aer work for siblings? Joolz finally released the footboard / buggy board with seat and people get excited that the board folds with a stroller (but it makes it way too big for the plane anyway). I still prefer the Yoyo’s board though, but it might be a personal preference.

One big difference I always see is that when strollers fold one-handed the closing mechanism is in the middle of the bar, which makes it slightly more difficult to steer with one hand vs when the bar is clear of any buttons. When I say slightly more difficult I don’t mean it’s super difficult, it’s really minor, but once you steer a stroller without the mechanism in the middle you’ll understand what I mean. Folding and Unfolding of Joolz AerA bit more of a subtle update, but still very thoughtful, the Joolz Aer+ has the mesh panel on the hood closer to the handlebar, so you can easily peek in at your little one in the stroller. The original Joolz Aer mesh was just a bit too far forward making it awkward to see through to the seat if you’re standing behind the stroller. More Durable & More Sustainable Fabrics Rather, the Joolz Aer pushes very smoothly, with no undue effort expended in pushing at all. How safe is the Joolz Aer? There’s also a bumper bar for younger babies to give added peace of mind and a carry bag for storing the pushchair when folded, a particularly useful addition when travelling. This is ideal if they are in the semi-reclined position having a nap so that even when their head is lower down the sun can’t sneak through to their face and disturb them.

As such, the Aer coped well with alighting and disembarking the bus, managing the gap with no problem at all. It’s light in weight at only 6kg and, though it doesn’t have an integrated carry handle, it has lots of places to grab onto as well as a removable carry strap, which also makes it easy to carry up and down stairs. Joolz Aer stroller is the first lightweight stroller of the very established and trusted Dutch brand Joolz. Aer is described as a high-quality, stylish, lightweight buggy. Is it really a good stroller though? As well as being awarded Best Luxury Lightweight Buggy 2020, we’ve also selected the Joolz Aer as this year’s easiest to fold. Our tester’s overall impression of the Joolz Aer is that it’s engineered to a very high standard. She hung her changing bag on the handlebar when her three-year-old was sitting in the buggy and asked her to jump out. In both instances, the Aer stayed put.For comfort, the seat is generously padded, a detail buggies of a similar size often skimp on. It’s worth noting that the seat is unusually long and well-suited to a tall child. Adele found the seat had lots of space around the sides for her three-year-old, who wouldn’t outgrow it any time soon. In terms of size, the Aer falls in the middle of the range when compared to the 11 other buggies we tested. Full disclosure:I bought this stroller myself. I wasn’t paid or given a sample, so this review is as objective as can be. Feel free to ask any questions in the comments. Pros & Minor Cons of Joolz Aer Stroller Make sure you have the recline zipped up before folding the stroller though. While the stroller will fold reclined with no issues, a part will be hanging out and you’ll be forced to zip it up when already folded which is harder than when the stroller is unfolded. It’s not a huge deal but an extra step when you’re in a hurry. With the Joolz Aer+ range, you have more options for sustainable fabrics. Joolz teams with Waste2wear w\ho creates fabrics from recycled plastic. But they don’t just get the plastic bottles that come out of our recycling bins – they have an Ocean Plastic Project, collecting plastic from coastal areas and then are turned into usable fabric.
