About this deal

After hearing about the merlin sleep suit, we knew we owed it to ourselves to at least give it a try – what did we have to lose?

TRIPLE-LAYERED CONSTRUCTION: featuring a built-in blanket for superior warmth & comfort. Designed with 2.5 TOG fabric, an ideal choice for COOL room temperatures between 61-68 degrees. However, we found that it gave our babies too much freedom of movement, and they would startle awake. Unlike other transitional products on the market (including a sleep bag), the Merlin Magic Sleepsuit allows your baby to have their arms and legs free, but still be snug and secure because of the padded material. This worked for us but you must discuss with your own pediatrician to make a safe plan for your baby - every baby develops differently and has different needs. For us, co-sleeping, with Hudson in our bedroom or in our bed, resulted in a very exhausted family. Since the move, we all sleep better and have adequate rest so we know it was the right decision for our little family. What’s The Final Verdict?

In the early days of parenting, it can feel like getting quality sleep for both you and your little one is impossible. A baby’s first year is filled with so many milestones. For many parents, sleeping through the night regularly might be the one we all look forward to the most. A few tips to make sure baby’s temperature doesn’t get too hot in the magic merlin suit is to use appropriate layers and be sure the room temperature isn’t too hot. We then dry off, put on some lotion, a diaper and jammies. Then we lower the lights and I feed him in our recliner in our bedroom.

However, once babies can roll over on their own it’s no longer safe to swaddle your baby for sleep. This is because they need to be able to use their hands to help push their face up off the mattress if they roll to their tummy while sleeping. Most parents today are told to swaddle their new bundles of joy to mimic the womb and help your babe sleep better. Sounds fantastic for us sleep deprived parents, right!? We did- but this is going to vary greatly by the temperature in your home (not necessarily the outside temp). It is more of a “transition” from a swaddle, starting closer to three months, rather than birth. I loved it because it was an extra layer without the need for blankets (safety concern)At 18-21 lbs, a 2-month-old would be 6-9 lbs heavier than the average, placing him way off the charts. It is designed to muffle the reflexive startles of babies to aid in their sleep. We have teamed with The Sleep Lady, Kim West, to answer the most common questions parents have when choosing the Magic Sleepsuit. I first heard about the Magic Merlin Sleepsuit after the birth of my oldest child, Archer. Although he arrived 10 days after his due date, he joined our world preemie sized! As with every baby product, prop, and gadget, the magical sleepsuit, certainly has its pros and cons. Pros: Infants really need to be developmentally ready and big enough to move from the swaddle to the sleep suit and see success.

This is the part where many parents start to panic. You’ve become used the magic of the merlin suit and worry what will happen when you try to move baby out. As you can see, the Merlin weighs more than its super lightweight counterparts, Zipadee-Zip and Love to Dream.LAYER LAYER LAYER! Underneath his baby sleep suit, we adjusted his layering underneath depending on just how cold it was going to be. Anywhere from nothing but his diapy underneath (in the warmer months) to 1 onesie, 1 flannel sleeper and 1 long sleeve shirt on under his magic suit.
