About this deal

Appreciate your intelligent comment as usual mate but the only way I can see this independent switch working as it should is with dash wiring that has the tell tale light anyway. The pins are all independent on this one. The other option I toyed with, was some kind of frankensteins monster of cutting and glueing together the retroreflector to the new fog lamp, what I need is someone with good 3d printer design skills to make some kind of holder or housing

Don’t forget your high-level brake light (this will be above your car’s rear windscreen), or your reversing lights. I am not going to argue this point with anyone, or try to change their point of view. If you beleive there should be "NO, or ONE, or TWO" rear fog lights it's up to you. For me personally, I choose TWO for additional safety so that no one will rear-end me in very low visability conditions. The justification is that I will never use them when they are not needed. I'm concerned by activating the airbag by mistake when connecting the wires to the new unit (I don't really understand how the airbag is activated / what safety precautions I need to take) With the lights on or off, with main lights on full or dip, I do not get rear foglights to come on, and nor does the fog light gaurd light appear in the instrument panel at any time. Of course, after all this trouble the MOT inspector might not have noticed the original reflectors are missing !i bought a universal fog light wiring loom kit as a plan B,to run the new loom right up to the original bulb holder, instead of trying to find a correct led bulb, that i can put into the place,i take the original bulb holder out of... The whole purpose of fog lights is so that you can see the road on which you are travelling, with clarity. This is because we do not have a compatible climatic condition in the UK, and are sometimes prone to experiencing extreme temperatures, which also includes fog, all of which make driving extremely difficult. Front fog lights can cut through mist, fog, rain or even dust as they are mounted lower down than headlights in the front of the car. Fog lights can also be used to drive in winter, when visibility is low, which is a major winter driving tip. It is legally required to have at least one rear fog light, in the UK, so every car will have at least one rear fog light. Since front fog lights are not a legal requirement, most car manufacturers only offer them in the high-end models. They can be found below the headlights. What Is The Difference Between Daytime Running Lights And Fog Lights You MUST NOT use front or rear fog lights unless visibility is seriously reduced (see Rule 226) as they dazzle other road users and can obscure your brake lights. You MUST switch them off when visibility improves."

The dim glow is extinguished when the lights are on - and then all the other switches attain a dim glow as expected.take care when overtaking vehicles spreading salt or other de-icer, particularly if you are riding a motorcycle or cycle Some newer cars have foregone front fog lights in favour of the bright LED daytime running lights (DRLs) that are now a legal requirement on new models. These serve a similar purpose to front fog lights when visibility is poor - they're not designed to light your way (even though some are so bright that they can do exactly that), but rather they're designed to make you more visible to other road users. How to use your car’s fog lights

Now - I have not been successful yet in my search for a right side stalk with both rear and front fogs, and it may be that it was only designed for left hand drive cars in russia and some parts of asia. Putting a voltmeter on the bulb holder tells me that only 8 - 9v of poweris reaching the bulb holder. they are on the top far right side, same position as yours, just one less diode, there is a diode in the outside right position, then another 2 directly to the left,so the 4th diode on the left isn't on my car, also the cars been in the family over 10 years,no ones ever messed around with anything, before me trying now Take a minute to see if your car has rear fog lights. Put the car in Park, turn on the engine and then turn on the headlights. Walk around to see how your car looks with just the headlights switched on from the rear. See the pattern of the taillights? If you have someone who can help you, have them press the brake pedal so you can see what your brake lights look like. Now push the fog light button and return to the rear of the car. Notice any brighter lights that are similar in brightness to your brake lights? Then you’ve got rear fog lights as well. Now that you’re aware of this, using them should be restricted to poor visibility conditions — and not to annoy the poor guy behind you. Feel free to illuminate your headlights, driving lights and even front fog lamps (if they can be turned on independently from the rear fog lamps), but save your rear fog lamps for foggy weather. In fog or other low visibility conditions, you should turn on your main headlights. Fog lights should be activated in addition to your dipped headlights when visibility falls to less than 100m.The ground wire of my twin core cable also goes into the inner wing earth header - it is the eath return for the new fog lamp switch's tell-tale light.

New 21w bulbs fitted to the rear bulb holders and all made clean and bright (they weren't bad to start with). The job of the rear fog lamp is to reveal the position of your vehicle when driving in the fog, snow or other conditions that limit visibility. Your normal taillights are fairly dim, so they are not as likely be seen in foggy weather. Rear fog lights are often placed on the left side of the vehicle, to help mark the corner of the car when vehicles behind are overtaking (passing) it. This bight light (looks like a brake light on) lets other drivers know approximately where the vehicle is located in a travel lane. Like the fog lights on the front of your car help make you more visible to oncoming traffic, rear fog lights make you more visible to people behind you. There are several types of rear fog lights. Some take xenon or halogen headlight bulbs, but other rear fog lamps are made up of LED lights. LED lights are bright, long lasting and common on newer vehicles with rear lamps. Rear Fog Light – Volvo This same question comes up a lot, in euro version Benz both left and right rear fogs are wired up and work as expected. On all USA version cars, only drivers side is provided for, because of US DOT regulation that prohibits BOTH Rear fogs, ONLY Emergency vehicles in the US are allowed to have both, so Benz only wired up the left side to comply. The IVA inspection looks at the way your vehicle is constructed or adapted, while the annual MOT test looks at roadworthiness of your vehicle. Like I said this topic is a sensitive one because people seem to be polarized as to which is the "Proper" solution.
