About this deal

Legion is a brilliant addition to FFG’s vast array of Star Wars games. It is completely different from its cousin game, Imperial Assault. Whilst Assault is more concerned with a few talented heroes, fighting in small skirmishes against Imperial troops, and is very much a ‘dungeon-delving’ game, Legion takes the warfare aspect of the Star Wars universe to an epic scale. Moving, as the name suggests, allows you to cross the battlefield with your units. The game comes with three movement tools, and each unit has a specific movement range varying from 1-3. When moving a trooper squadron you move the unit’s leader the designated range, then bring all his fellow troops into cohesion. Vehicle movement is slightly different, in that the tool clips into place with the front base of the vehicle, and vehicles can also pivot and reverse.

Star Wars Legion is played over six rounds – and each round is further broken down into three phases; the Command Phase, followed by an Activation Phase, and finally the End Phase. During the Command Phase, each player secretly selects one of their seven command cards that they have brought to the battle, and places it face down on the battlefield. And of course, perhaps the most entertaining way you can customize your army is by painting and customizing your miniatures! All Star WarsLegion minis come unpainted, so after you assemble your army, you’ll be able to paint your miniatures into something that only you could have created. Although you don’t need to paint your miniatures, many players find it more enjoyable to play with a painted army, and even if you’ve never painted an army of miniatures before, Star WarsLegion is the perfect introduction to the hobby.

Overview:

The Imperial All Terrain Scout Transport is a formidable war machine, cutting through Rebel lines as it stomps across the battlefields of the Galactic Civil War. Despite their appearance, however, these intimidating assault vehicles aren’t invincible. Soon you’ll find out what happens when one of these towering terrors comes crashing down. Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the Downed AT-ST Battlefield Expansionfor Star Wars™: Legion! Moving your units into position is vital for claiming victory in Star WarsLegion, and the exact positioning of every miniature is crucial. The position of every unit on the battlefield is open information—what you need to plan for is how your opponent can use those units! Good positioning and the ability to read the battlefield could allow you to catch your opponent in a deadly crossfire or pin an enemy unit between two of your own. Twin Light Blaster Cannon. DW-3 Concussion Grenade Launcher AT-ST Mortar Launcher. AT-ST Unit Expansion, allowing you to customize your AT-ST miniature to match the weapons it’s equipped with! The only criticism I would have with the army building at the moment, is that there currently isn’t enough choice with the amount and variety of units that can be put into an 800 point army. This will of course be remedied by FFG very soon, with the release of numerous new army option expansions. Rebel Commandos and Snowtroopers are just two of the army choices currently in production, to be brought out soon! Conclusion & Final Thoughts on Star Wars Legion

Almost all tabletop games use a sliding scale to scale down larger objects. This is because if a large vehicle was at the exact same scale as a miniature, the battlefield itself would become overcrowded. It would be hard to fit all models onto the battlefield and the miniatures would have less space to move in. As with the 88, I wouldn’t recommend firing the DW-3 by itself. It is tailor made to turn the MS-4 into a cover ignoring murder machine. So while the exact math points to Star Wars Legion miniatures being around 1:47 scale, official kits point to 1:48 scale. Both Bandai and Revell sell Star Wars model kits which are at 1:48 scale. They both also sell model kits at 1:52 and 1:53 scale which will also work well with Star Wars Legion. The sliding scaleDepending on where you live, the time it may take for your exchanged product to reach you, may vary. With an aim token, you have about a 68% chance to do at least 3 wounds to an AT-RT; without an aim token, that drops to 46%. You probably aren’t going to hit that resilience threshold in one shot, but you will get pretty darn close. Star Wars Legion really comes into its own when you come to customise your army. In a standard game of Legion, each side gets to spend 800 points worth on troops. You are limited as to how many of the more powerful units you can bring to bear, for example, each side can only have up to two heavy units, the Imperials for example will only be bringing a maximum of two AT-ST’s to the battle.

Star Wars Legion immerses players in the exciting, cinematic ground combat of the Star Wars universe. From the sound of blaster fire echoing across the battlefield to the unmistakable shudder and crunch of an AT-ST walker, appearing from the undergrowth, Legion plunges you into the fierce conflict between the Galactic Empire and the Rebel Alliance.

Coming in at a base cost of 195 points, a single AT-ST takes up almost a quarter of your full allotment of 800 points in a standard game. But what it gives you in return is immeasurable power and durability. Between the highest health in the game and its heavily armored shell, even the most persistent Rebels will be hard-pressed to deal lasting damage to the behemoth without heavy artillery. The grenade launcher adds a couple of dice and, most importantly, Blast. Your entire pool ignores cover. This is the hardpoint upgrade that turns the AT-ST from a durable nuisance to an in-your-face board presence.
