About this deal
Section 53 of the Firearms Act 1968 gives the Secretary of State a power to make rules prescribing the form of certificates and other things that need prescribing under the Act. The rules made under section 53 are the Firearms Rules 1998 (“the Firearms Rules”). BASC promotes and insists on safe and sensible behaviour by shooters in all disciplines. You should act on these points to reassure shooters and non-shooters alike that you can be trusted with a shotgun:
a complaint asserting multiple claims against multiple defendants without specifying which defendant is responsible for which acts or omissions, or which defendant the claim is brought against.
It is advisable to have adequate legal liability (third party) insurance when shooting. Membership of BASC currently provides insurance. European firearms passes are normally valid for 5 years or the length of your firearm certificate - whichever is shorter.
Regardless of what led to your involvement with firearms, whether you came from a similar place as me or not, following gun safety rules is a necessity.Keep your shotgun secured – preferably in a purpose-built gun cabinet – when not in use. Ensure that no-one else has access to the keys – remember it is your responsibility to ensure that an unauthorised person (which includes anyone who hasn’t got a shotgun certificate) does not have access to your guns.
