About this deal

Even with an estimated 14kg load, plus the 1.5kg of the bag itself, the weight felt very evenly distributed. Our Camera Cube (size medium) did a good job of holding my camera gear. The included dividers were a little more dense and rigid than the generic padded ones that I’m used to but they raised no alarms. I will say that the actual space available, though appropriate for my mirrorless system, may seem a little cramped for some full frame users or those with a ton of gear. You can, I imagine, buy a second camera cube and put it in the top compartment but I can’t comment on the efficacy of this option. However, don’t dismiss it as a mere accessory for hipsters with more money than sense! It’s much more than that, and has received several awards for its innovation and design. This is a similar story with the WANDRD Hexad Access Duffel, which allows customisation with cubes too. Did I feel fashionable wearing this? Yup! This bag looks the part, and is very sleek, with a modern design.

In addition to this camera equipment, I also had a 15” MacBook Pro (with charger), INEO SSD case, and a few books. I was told I looked ‘Kawaii’ (cute) whilst wearing it in Japan. Can you design my wardrobe next, WANDRD?!

I didn’t use the included waist straps or accessory straps, so I can’t comment on them. I left them at home. Unless you’re hiking a considerable amount, I don’t see why you’d need them. As you can see from the dimensions of the various camera cubes, there is very little difference between the Regular depth and the Plus depth. Just 0.5 inches. If you are shooting with a mirrorless camera you can choose to use either the Regular depth or the Plus depth. This is also the same as choosing between the PRVKE 21 and PRVKE 31 since those are the bags designed for those depths of the cube.

The added depth in the PRVKE 41 means the top section feels significantly larger. If you are heading out for a longer hike with this bag, you can easily fit a pair of top layers in there, along with rain pants, binoculars, In-Reach or GPS device and food and water for a long day. There is, however, a handy integrated camera sling that keeps your camera hanging right next to your hip, although it’s mostly for smaller cameras. Send newsletters about digital cameras, tips or information about digital photography, or related matters Thanks to its solid construction and well-thought-out design, the PRVKE 31 offers great protection for all types of gear. With lots of weather sealing in addition to a rain fly (sold separately) the PRVKE 31 should stand up very well to the elements. No matter where you end up storing your items, they are sure to be safe. When choosing the PRVKE that is right for you, all you need to do is analyze what it is you want to carry. Then match that with the recommendations above. If it looks like the PRVKE Lite is the right one for you, do not worry that you are getting some sort of low-end, bottom-of-the-rung version of the PRVKE. This is absolutely not the case. The PRVKE Lite is simply the smallest PRVKE. It looks, feels and acts just like its bigger siblings. PRVKE 21 Vs. 31 Made of a watertight tarpaulin skin and an inner nylon layer, the WANDRD PRVKE 31 is built to last. All the zippers feel solid and high-quality, similar to those of Thule products.

The foam seems dense enough to keep my gear safe yet still feels lightweight enough with a fully loaded bag. Though there’s not a one-size-fits-all camera bag, I think the PRVKE would fit a wide array of body sizes. Our ultimate destination, the Titcomb Basin, would prove to be a great trial grounds in addition to being just stunningly beautiful. Although the removable Camera Cube was designed with a mirrorless system in mind (a body, plus a large and medium sized lens) the molded dividers make it possible to carry a full frame DSLR with lenses as well. I was able to fit a 5D Mark IV body, a 70-200mm F2.8 lens and a 24-70 F2.8 lens in the cube without any issues. On the outside of the bag, I clipped on my MPB Harrier Carbon Fibre Tripod with 3 Legged Thing AirHed 2 and a 1L water bottle. You can get A LOT of gear in here. I was able to 2 DSLR body’s, a handful of lenses, and a medium format camera with an attached lens in with still extra room. I’d be keen to try the smaller 21L PRVKE variant in the future. I think it could be the perfect out-and-about bag, and ideal for short breaks. This would also be really well suited to those with smaller frames, or teenagers who don’t want a bag the size of their torso.

When it comes to getting the shoulder strap fixed, I’m confident that WANDRD’s excellent customer service will handle the repair with minimum fuss. From an environmental point of view, it’s much better to get a repair than a replacement, too. Users can access the PRVKE’s three main compartments via several entry points. As previously mentioned, a lateral zipper provides access to the main compartment, which is where the bulk of your camera gear will be stored. At the top of the bag is the rolltop, which is also quite easy to access. A clip at the top of bag secures the rolltop and is quite snug and easily adjusted. For me, I like all my clothing and accessories to be stylish, and that includes my photography gear (where possible!) Since I travel a lot and don’t always take the best care of everything, I also like it to be rugged and hard-wearing. Surprisingly, there was still room on the inside to spare for my travel adapters and iPhone / Apple Watch chargers. After 2 weeks of intensive usage, the only issue I’ve had is a slight tear to the inside of the left shoulder strap where it connects with the bag.

Value for money is always a tough one to gauge since it’s highly subjective. How much do you value how something looks, vs how it functions, for example.
