The Brunel SP52 is probably pound for pound the best value compound microscope in our range. This instrument bridges the gap between microscopes best suited for amateur and professional use. Standard features include a quadruple nosepiece turret with achromatic objectives x4, x10, x40 and x100 (oil). Matched with x10 wide field eyepieces gives the SP52 a magnification range of x40 to x1000. The SP52 has a coaxial coarse and fine focus mechanism, with tension control and focus stop. This is a good sized microscope with a robust stand well suited for the rigours of educational use or commercial applications whilst being ideal for the serious amateur microscopist. It also has the additional features of an adjustable focus stop and tension arrangement The SP22/21 microscopes have many features that are normally found on microscopes of a much greater price. The objectives are made from achromatic corrected glass and are standard Royal Microscopical Society (RMS) size. The monocular head rotates trough 360° and has a widefield x10 good quality eyepiece. The SP27 has a modern design with low position coaxial coarse and fine focus controls and a focus safety stop. The Abbe condenser has an iris diaphragm with filter carrier and the base has a very effective field lens that gives a good even field of illumination. These days even toy microscopes have inbuilt battery lighting - for what its worth! However we offer Illumination by rheostat controlled LED lighting. Most notable is that the SP14 comes with its own carrying case which is a significant bonus in reducing price. The SP30 is supplied with LED lighting making the microscopes truly portable. The 240 volt LED system is supported by internal rechargeable batteries, and the recharging plug transformer is supplied. An overnight charge will allow a full 8 hours use with rheostat brightness control. The SP30/40 microscopes are normally connected to a mains electricity supply. This automatically charges the the internal batteries making the instrument ready for portable use at any time. An excellent innovation. However if battery power is going to be used, do not connect to the mains supply all the time. Use the microscope as you would a mobile phone this enables the microscopes to be used away from an electricity supply for up to 40 hours from one charge - charge the batteries when they need it or remove them and use the mains supply only.
