About this deal

As with all of Takagi’s (Ogawa Chise) works, I find this manga to be exceedingly aesthetically pleasing. While character designs are unrealistic and undeniably feminine, the art ultimately works On the other hand, Azusa is always real. He never bothers to put on masks so that people will like him- he doesn't care what they think of him, because as long as he is in power, he can do whatever he likes. He treats people terribly, like they're lesser than him, and even when he becomes the target of the school, this attitude never goes away. He refuses to grovel even though the alternative is worse, and never asks for help. He never thanks anyone for anything, and it's because he knows he's alone in his convictions. He's honest and has a very strong sense of self, and it's wonderful. Taking place in a high school, Caste Heaven is about power and sex, and what those things can do to people. In this school, there is a game where cards are scattered and have to be found. Whoever has the joker or refuses to take part is the target of their entire class and is subjected to horrible bullying, up to the point of gang-rape. Whoever finds the king is in charge of everything- literally the 'King'. Like I said earlier, I didn’t care for ANY of these characters. We didn’t get to connect with any of them, plus pointless things were added one after another.

Azusa knew today was going to be bad. If he had known just how horrible it was going to be though he would have just stayed home. Now, the entire school knows he's an omega, but that's not the worst part. I did say in the previous volume that I wanted to see more Tatsumi and Senzaki… I hadn’t expected to receive a full and thorough story. I was super nervous about reading this series. I put it off for a LONG time, because - although the premise sounded super-cool and intriguing - I just knew it would be non-con. The blurb sets you up for that, but I wasn't sure if I was ready to dive into another yaoi that uses the (and there's really no other way to put this) convenient plot-twist of rape to get a couple together. Hey kids! Are you looking for poor writing and flat characters, while also being a poor excuse to put in some Yaoi action? That's what this series is about, I feel. It's about learning a lesson, but not always the lesson you first think. And that's why I'm so intrigued. I want to see how it progresses, who learns what, and how it all ends.

Plot is good at start, terrible later. We follow a story of Azusa an mc that was a king of the school, prideful, arrogant and a ruler. He gets degraded by his former loyal dog Karino who becomes the king, Azusa becoming a Joker aka the lowest. Inside of school caste system is what rules and we see people repeadetely getting fed up for not following it. Edit: 1.5-THE CONCEPT- after rereading the manga I realized that the concept itself is stupid and full of plotholes. Why does the game exsist? I am not sure. I dont think the manga will explain how the game started because it is dumb for someone to want to be in a game where you might go and become a victim. Also why would the popular kids agree to the game, it obviously a danger to their status, so why would they agree for the game. Unless they wanted to have SEX! Which in that case why did anyone agree to this????? WHY WOULD THEY WANT TO LIVE IN A LITERAL RAPE CULTURE! Jesus, I never knew the day would come where a story is literal about a rape culture... Caste Heaven reminded me of that because as soon as the other students were given even the slightest bit of power over Azusa, they immediately began torturing him. They instantly became cruel, even those who had nothing to do with him, and they would do anything that Karino said to do, which leads me to why this reminded me of the Milgram experiment. I don't even know where to start with this atrocity. it takes place in a really messed up high school that allows rape and bulling. the students are all brain washed into thinking this is ok as well.It had a few faults, some unnecessary scenes, and is a clever concept that I'd like to know more about. I want to see Azusa grow strong again, to get his feet under him and figure out what he wants. I want to find out more about Atsumu and Kuze. Can Karino be redeemed (if that's even the right word?) and admit how he feels about Azusa? Will Azusa forgive him for being an utter, complete, asshole? In August 2019, Viz Media licensed the series for North American distribution in English under their SuBLime imprint. [10] No. Caste Heaven is written and illustrated by Chise Ogawa, the yaoi pseudonym of Shigeyoshi Takagi. [6] It was serialized in monthly manga magazine Magazine Be × Boy from March 2014 to late 2021. [1] The chapters were later released in 8 bound volumes by Libre under the BBC DX imprint. Things go terribly, terribly wrong for him when he misjudges one his followers: instead of bringing him the king card, Karino ends up handing him the lowest card, the joker while keeping the king for himself. That and raping him. What follows is Azusa's fall from grace as everyone he ever mistreated when he was on top gunning for him. The 'joker' is also 'the target', a position that is dreaded by all.
