About this deal

and provides you with a means of launching homebrew software, without the need for any extra hardware, I have attempted to fix the age-old flaw within USBHDFSD that might be responsible for the rare occurrance of filesystem corruption, whenever new files are added (or if files are renamed). For video guidance, I recommend MrMario2011 YouTube videos. They always seem to produce videos at lightning speed when new updates or changes to jailbreak methods work, and has been a staple in my retro diet for the past 3 years. I’ll be looking into this more closely soon, and will most likely write something regarding my experiences.

NEW - Updated OSD init code (fix for the mix-up on 06/23). Might not really result in any real benefits though. If you are having difficulties with getting RESCUE.ELF to be booted, press and hold START+R1. FMCB/FHDB will make an infinite number of attempts to boot the file. Also because I must have accidentally hit the "keep both files button", the previous update did not get overwritten. So there is now probably some confusion over the version number. This shall become the new release, which will hopefully be the last one... as well as providing information regarding compatibility for the SCPH-10000, SCPH-15000 and SCPH-18000.As for how the glitch came about: I changed the DVD Player selection code for v1.96. So while trying to get it to work, I commented out the code that deinitializes the RPC services... so libcdvd was (silently) failing because its semaphores were deleted by the EE kernel, but it couldn't be initialized because it thinks it already was initialized. So the lesson here, is as some old advice goes - there is a risk involved when we comment out code while debugging. The CD/DVD drive will now be stopped if a normal ELF is started (Under the assumption that most homebrew ELFs probably won’t ever use the drive). so all thats required is to install it as is. Once you are more familiar with using FMCB, you can add more apps, configure it to your taste and even add skins to some apps that allow it.

NEW- Updated LaunchELF to fix booting of old software and to enable renaming for supported devices. Patched/modified copies of the HDDOSD may not work, although non-Sony disks are supported by FHDB itself. For those wondering the PS2 can emulate a variety of consoles: Atari 2600 & 5200, BBC, Coleco, Commodore 64 & 128, GameBoy, Sega Genesis (Megadrive), Geotron, MAME, Master System, Msx2, NeoCD, NeoGeo, NES, SNES and WonderSwan. but they have been kind enough to provide me with access to its source code, for me to make some improvements to it. FMCB/FHDB will issue the SCSI UNIT STOP command to USB devices connected when a disc is booted via fastboot, to prolong the lifespan of those (2.5") HDDs that require proper shutdown. Free Mcboot will work with almost any PS2. The only versions of the PS2 that will not work are the slim models with a model number series of 9xxxx. These are the models on which 1/2 of the top is shiny. If you have a Fat PS2, or a slim that just has a 1 inch wide "band" of shiny plastic on the top, then you can use FMCB
