About this deal

Brown switches are tactile. They have a slight bump on each keystroke which makes them excellent for typing and programming but they are not the best for gaming. Brown switches produce a moderate amount of noise. The smoky housing is what gives the Ink’s their name, both the lower and upper housing are the same colors depending on what type of switch you use. Red, Blue, and Brown mechanical key switches are still the most popular ones on the market. If possible, you should try each of these switch types for yourself to see which you prefer – a mechanical key switch tester kit can help with this. But there are some differences that can point you in the right direction without personal testing. Because they’re still the most popular brand on the market, we’ll focus on Cherry MX switches. Mechanical Keyboard Switches Chart

Gateron switches are not rated as high for durability as Cherry MX. Due to their rigorous testing and standards, Cherry MX switches are rated for 100 million keystrokes, while Gateron are 50 million. Brown switches are excellent for programming. The tactile bump helps limit mistakes which can increase the speed at which you enter data. Cherry MX switches aren’t the only ones on the market these days. In fact, many gaming keyboard manufacturers like Razer now often make their own proprietary mechanical keyboard switches, and other companies like Gateron make switches for other manufacturers to use, just like Cherry. One common complaint about brown switches is that the tactile bump is too light. In which case, a heavier switch, such as a Cherry MX Clear can be a better option.

Closing Thoughts

Due to the smoothness of Gateron switches, we definitely prefer their silent switches to other switches. Cherry MX Browns are an excellent option if you can afford the price and want your keyboard to last forever. Gateron Brown Type: Tactile Gateron Ink switches are a bit different from the normal Gateron switch, they are what we would consider Gateron’s “premium switch” due to the higher price point. The design of the brown switch makes it excellent for beginners, but people who have used brown switches for a while might find them a tad dull and boring. Are Brown Switches Good For Gaming?

The normal switch housing directs RGB lighting directly into your eyes, while the milk switches give it a less intense feel. The overall sound and feel of Milk switches are the same except the color of the housing is different. Gateron Ink Switches COLOR As you can see from the table above, Gateron has a comprehensive lineup of switches that all offer a unique feel and aesthetic. https://youtu.be/Kov1CTx3Sr4 Video can’t be loaded because JavaScript is disabled: Keychron K2 Red vs Brown Gateron Switches (https://youtu.be/Kov1CTx3Sr4)The Cherry MX Browns I have also sound scratchier than the Cherry MX Reds, likely due to the tactile bump. This makes them sound less pleasant than the Cherry MX Red to my ears. But this is my subjective opinion, and you may feel otherwise. It’s a minor difference, anyway. Some keyboard users are not a fan of silent switches due to the rubbery feel when logging a keystroke and the fact that the sound is muted, while others really enjoy this aspect of the switch. On the upside, since there are less parts touching, they have a lifespan of 100 million keystrokes making them durable and long-lasting. Kailh Box Brown Type: Tactile Low Profile Red switches have all of the same distinct features as MX Reds, but with a small form factor. MX Low Profile Reds are linear, with a smooth typing feel and actuation of 45cN. MX Low Profile Speed:
