About this deal

Thanks for any help, and if anyone else reading this comment is also willing to help provide this information, thank you in advance! In a previous article about this laptop, I raved fairly hard about it. I think, despite Curry’s PC World’s sales staff, that this laptop is a great find for the price. Touch screen, tablet mode, tent mode, great little touchpad with multitouch gestures, the list of things to like goes on and on. Plug the laptop into a different power outlet. Unplug the laptop, wait a few minutes, and then plug it into an outlet on a different wall or room. If the laptop charges when connected elsewhere, the problem is not your computer or charger. Storage, RAM and processor are not upgradeable – at least not easily if at all. The RAM and processor are adequate and most laptops won’t allow processor upgrades anyway. But the storage is a problem. Update: The storage can in fact be upgraded.

You can choose whether to use the drive as an additional drive, or whether you want to reinstall Windows. Reinstalling Windows Intel Celeron N4000 dual core processor running at 1.1Ghz – not a powerhouse but perfectly adequate for every day use. I find I’m rarely waiting for the processor for anything – it’s usually disk or network bound. So, you need a B-Keyed M.2 card. An M-Keyed card will not fit. Some cards have both notches cut out, and indeed the drive most likely to work for you is actually one of these dual notched cards or a B-M-Keyed M.2 card. Cards with both keys cut out will work in either. Micro HDMI connector to enable you to hook up to a bigger screen, extend your Windows desktop or hook up a projector for meetings etc. Gigabyte eMMC storage. This is the only area I’ve really found that lets this laptop down. It would be better for Geoflex to have spent a few quid more and put 64 Gigabytes in it. But, the USB3.0 expansion works well so it’s not such a big issue. The storage space on this laptop can be upgraded with an M.2 SATA drive too.I’d save the drivers to another USB drive somewhere, or put them in your Google Drive account or something – you never know when you’ll want them again in the future. Booting From The USB If the power adapter works for a little while but then turns off, there may be interference with the outlet. Unplug the power adapter for about 30 seconds and then try again. P.P.S. If you’re a bit more adventurous, you can upgrade the storage space on the Geo Flex 2 in 1 – instructions are available in this article. Please be aware that it’s possible the link above will break at some point and I’m not sure how happy Geo will be with me sharing it. If they ask me to remove it I will, although the drivers are only useful on their hardware and hopefully this article will help people realise how good their hardware actually is. If the link does break, visit https://geo-computers.com/ and request their support. Don’t use the SDCard interface that comes with the Geo Flex – it’s a USB2.0 interface and horribly slow by comparison to either the eMMC installed or a USB3 thumb drive. Perhaps im missing something, because I would have presumed I could enable/disable the Bluetooth in the BIOS but I cannot find this setting either. (Side note the bluetooth does work)It should be clear, photo or video editing, 3D programs and much more can't be done by the Intel Celeron, or only to a limited extent under considerable time expenditure. But the Chromebook method, where many applications are moved to the cloud, also works with Windows computers. Many things can now be done conveniently via cloud applications. The GeoFlex 140 is slim and offers a modern exterior, but only shows low performance in all technical aspects. Remember though, you MAY be invalidating your warranty. You do so at your own risk and I am not responsible if you do. I’ve Bought The M.2 SATA Drive, now what? Tent mode or tablet mode both work well with Windows 10. The inbuilt accelerometer works well to detect screen orientation and the touch screen is accurate and responsive. But they did have the Geo 2 in 1, 11.6″ Flex laptop which runs Windows 10 instead. And when I decided I’d buy that instead the sales assistant told me in no uncertain terms not to.

As others have said however, upon removing the entire bottom panel, it seems there is indeed a space where the card would sit, and I’m fairly sure that despite the physical port not being present, that the solder points likely exist where it would be (though I need to have a proper look after writing this).Access to the CMOS menu is available on mine just by holding the delete key immediately when turning on. Reveals the longest and most detailed CMOS menu that I’ve ever seen before. This is very much not for beginner users, but I have installed both CloudReady from Neverware, and PrimeOS on this laptop and both worked quite well. The accelerometer isn’t detected under either of these operating systems so you don’t get the benefit of automatic switching to tablet or tent mode though. But everything else worked, including the touch screen which surprised me. I also just find it tidier to have everything on the one drive rather than some stuff on a USB drive and the system on a separate drive. Having said that, when I broke the laptop by installing PrimeOS onto the main eMMC and finding it didn’t work quite as well as I’d hoped, I also broke the restore image partition. This meant that I couldn’t re-install Windows directly from the laptop. When I reinstalled Windows a good proportion of the drivers were actually automatically found. However, some weren’t. And some were but didn’t work properly. Notably the keyboard and screen accelerometer’s which come with Windows were quite problematic and didn’t detect when the laptop was being used as a tablet. GeoFlex drivers fix that.
