In fact, we noted that it sounds a little like rainfall as it boils, with a high-pitched tone. However, its main let-down was the casing reaching 89.8°C when boiling one litre; this makes it quite hazardous for young children or pets. It shows both the live temperature and the selection of options available from 40-100°C. There’s a keep warm setting that lasts for up to 30 minutes. It scored generally well across the board for performance, but it got top marks for external body temperature, reaching just 40.4°C — the lowest we recorded from our kettle tests. It was fairly fast as well, taking two minutes and 10 seconds on average to boil a litre of water.

Boil two quarts of water using this stylish tea kettle from Cuisinart. The tea kettle has a simple design and an aesthetic appeal that fits any minimalist space. Its metallic finish blends in well with minimalist muted colors. It also has a unique half-dome shape and a handle fitted with a finger pull flap on the faucet to help you pour boiling water or tea easily. All kettles, with the exception of the Morphy Richards Brita Filter, had removable limescale filters which can be washed under the tap. However, the filter in the Swan Nordic was quite hard to remove and made from fabric, so it probably won’t last as long as some of the others. While some dome or pyramid kettles err on the side of tradition for design, Tower’s Cavaletto is thoroughly modern. Everything about its appearance feels sleek, from the gently curving C-shaped handle at the top, to the multiple metallic details that adorn it. This was the fastest boiling kettle we tested and the covered spout makes it pretty much impossible to spill hot liquid even if you try. And it means no dribbly limescale marks either.
