About this deal

A perennial problem with superzoom lenses is zoom creep, or a tendency for the lens to extend under its own weight when carried normally. Our review sample seems almost immune to this; the trade-off is that somewhat stiff zoom action. Compared to Micro Four Thirds kit zooms The macro performance is significantly improved (0.28 vs. 0.18 without adapter or 0.4 with the macro adapter). Is still not a true macro lens, but at least is usable for some real close-ups (the largest image size is actually 0.8 if you consider the 35mm equivalent).

Photo editor Dan Bracaglia spent 48 hours shooting in the deserts of Southern, Utah, E-M5 III in hand. The main controls on the lens are a focusing ring and a zoom ring function. The lens becomes larger as you zoom into a subject, which means that it isn’t an internal zoom offering. But that shouldn’t be a problem considering how small the lens really is. Image Quality The E-P1 corrects distortion in-camera, so it's no surprise that there is very little distortion evident in our test images. There is a fraction of pincushion distortion at 14mm, but otherwise, it's essentially zero. The 14-150mm employs an internal focus system that is designed for fast, silent autofocus, and is optimised for video use. In practice it delivers well on this promise; focus is impressively fast, quiet and accurate (certainly good enough for most purposes other than all-out sports or action work). In this respect it's a massive improvement over Olympus's 14-42mm kit lens. Change in angle of view on focusing ('focus breathing') Zooming is not internal – as you can see, the front extends considerably upon zooming to 150mm, at which point the lens cannot be considered tiny any more. Still, it's a pretty compact affair for a lens that spans such a vast focal range. The wide zoom ring's textured finish is markedly different to that of the first version, although this difference is essentially cosmetic in nature. We find the E-M5 III to be a fantastic companion for travel and general photography, producing excellent images under a wide range of scenarios. But I traded in the lens to get the E-M1 Mark I 3 years ago and I got the Olympus ZD 14-54mm f 2.8-3.5 Mark I and that lens felt a huge improvement in rendition and image quality. Since then (and very recently) I moved to Olympus 12-100mm f 4 Pro and I am very happy with the lens, more then I hoped I would.

From Olympus lens literature) Olympus continues to grow its interchangeable-lens lineup with the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6 II (28-300mm, 35mm equivalent) lens. With a 10.7x zoom ratio, this versatile Micro Four Thirds lens features incredible zoom capabilities in a compact, lightweight body. A dustproof, splashproof construction makes this lens durable enough to withstand the toughest shooting conditions when paired with the Olympus OM-D E-M1 or OM-D E-M5 Mark II. With the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL ED 14-150mm f/4.0-5.6 II included, the M.ZUIKO DIGITAL dustproof, splashproof lens lineup now offers five exceptional lenses for all of your professional shooting needs.EDUCATION: Chris graduated Magna Cum Laude from Adelphi University with a degree in Communications in Journalism in 2009. Since then, he's learned and adapted to various things in the fields of social media, SEO, app development, e-commerce development, HTML, etc. The Olympus 14-150mm f4-5.6 II lens is a really good option for most photographers. It isn’t going to give you the absolute best images, but the images that it delivers are still quite good. If you need a superzoom with weather sealing and a pretty good zoom range, you can’t beat this one. Slap it into your camera and go shooting. You won’t be disappointed; and if you are, you can just fix it in post.
