About this deal

The RugBuddy is available in four sizes: 93” x 63”, 81” x 58”, 58” x 34”, and an 89” x 22” runner pad. RugBuddy recommends taping the corners of the pad to your rug pad to keep it in position. As with the previous mat, power is provided by an 8-foot cord. A pair of on/off buttons are located on a fob near the plug. An indicator light will illuminate when the coil is active. One of the best features of RugBuddy electric rug heater is its energy efficiency. The energy cost of operating a RugBuddy is less than what you spend lighting most rooms. To make the unit even more energy efficient, use a three-prong lamp timer to ensure the under rug heater is only active when you want it.

RugBuddy comes with a standard 3-pin UK moulded plug on 2.5m long power cord. (For a 2-pin Euro plug RugBuddy please go here.) However, it has an added benefit. Because the material is soft, it provides plenty of cushion for the inner coils. You can use it directly under a carpet without the need for a carpet pad underneath. On the other hand, the bottom is smooth and doesn’t provide any grip. If you’re on hardwood or another slippery surface, you’ll still want to use an anti-skid mat underneath. By putting warmth where you need it - under your feet! - RugBuddy is more effective than other electric heaters. This means RugBuddy will keep you warm while consuming less electricity. When installing electric underfloor heating, it's important that your floor has been prepared and insulated in the best way for the floor type and its location in your home. Then it should be a simple case of laying and taping down the wires.

When I arrive in the morning, the temperature in my office is anywhere between zero to five degrees. I turn on my RugBuddy and my oil filled radiator. After 45 minutes the air is at 20 degrees. I turn the radiator off and leave my RugBuddy on for the rest of the day, as that is all I need. This is not only a cost effective way to heat my garden office but it is great to be able to sit at my desk and warm my feet! Next up are the bar or panel radiator type heaters. In theory, these aren't as bad because they create more effective radiant heat. But, their downsides include: Most electric heaters consume between 1,000 and 2,400 watts and fail to direct heat where it's needed. If you have any issues, RugHeat provides a five-year manufacturer’s warranty. If there are any premature fails, you’ll be fully covered. Be aware that you need to have a soft mat between the heating mat and the floor. If it’s directly on a solid surface, furniture could damage it.

Electric fan or convection heaters try to overcome this problem by forcing heat across the room. This creates another problem: air movement promotes cooling, not heating! To counteract this, they consume an enormous amount of power for their size.
