About this deal

It may not be the fastest Wave 2 AP but Draytek’s VigorAP 903 certainly makes light work of creating mesh wireless networks. It’s a cinch to deploy, offers seamless self-healing and beats the competition hands down for value.

Simply take a VigorAP out of the box and connect up the power, a new VigorAP decides automatically whether to be a Mesh Node or Access Point. If it doesn't detect a wired uplink, the VigorAP will start up as a Mesh Node and wait to be added in to a VigorMesh network. DrayTek's VigorACS management monitors the VigorAP 903, with a Dashboard view giving a central overview of the most important information from the VigorAP's current status. The VigorAP connected up to the network will be configured as the Mesh Root. When it's set up as the Mesh Root, it can scan for Mesh Nodes to join the Mesh. Additional new Mesh Nodes can be added when needed to improve network coverage and increase wireless network capacity.AP Bridge WDS (Wireless Distribution System) - Connects two or more VigorAP Access Points or DrayTek wireless routers as a wireless bridge, allowing wired network devices to communicate across the link. The VigorAP can also broadcast a wireless network to increase wireless coverage Allows VigorAP access points on the network to improve how clients handle moving between VigorAPs. It intelligently allows VigorAPs to disassociate clients from a VigorAP, when the client could get a better connection with a nearer VigorAP access point.

A wired uplink could be used in a situation where you need to add a Mesh Node in an area that is too far away to receive a signal from other mesh nodes. For example, to an outdoor area or if you are placing a node on a different floor to the rest of the devices. Local Temperature Logging and AlarmAs your VigorAP 903 unit(s) will be distributed around your building, it's an ideal opportunity to also gather environmental information about those locations. By the addtition of an optional USB temperature sensor, your VigorAP 903 can report real-time local temperature information, show the previous 24 hour's chart and also set high/low alarms to alert/log if the temperature falls above or below your set levels. This facility is ideal for detecting if any part of your building is over or under-heated or if heating/cooling has been left on overnight and therefore helping to make more efficient use of your heating or cooling energy consumption, potentially saving cost. To set up new mesh nodes, simply have the mesh root search for new mesh nodes. When they're detected, give each VigorAP a name and the VigorMesh system will set up each access point to join the VigorMesh network. The mesh will then automatically optimise links between mesh nodes to ensure the best network layout with the new mesh nodes. DrayTek Mesh - Auto-Optimising, Self-Healing Aims to maximise the total wireless throughput by improving how time is shared between wireless clients to prevent slower clients from negatively affecting other users and to enable faster clients to obtain higher speeds that they're capable of.The Mesh Root is configured through the Web interface, or with the DrayTek Wireless app to operate as a Mesh Root, which can then add in any Mesh Nodes.

The new 'DrayTek Wireless' app assists you with setting up the VigorAP 903 access points and Mesh Wireless network. Band Steering is designed to 'steer' wireless clients that support both 2.4GHz and 5GHz bands to the faster and less congested 5GHz bands, when possible. This can improve the connection experience for clients for both 2.4GHz only devices and dual-band capable clients. With more 5GHz capable devices using the faster 5GHz band, the remaining 2.4GHz clients would experience less collisions and congestion. The total capacity (number of clients that can connect) is increased by sharing clients more evenly between each access point's band. When clients are more evenly distributed between both the APs 2.4Ghz and 5Ghz bands, each VigorAP can efficiently and effectively service more wireless clients. Mobile Device Management The TCP port has been changed. By default, HTTP uses port 80, but you can deliberatelychange that. If you have done so, you need to append the port number to the URL, for example http://192.168.1.1:88.

One limitation of wireless throughput is the wireless frequency space, which is shared between everyone. A wireless access point sending out data can only send to a single wireless client at a time. For home use there are cheaper mesh networking options, but for an expanding business, the VigorAP 1000C makes a lot of sense. It’s fast and relatively easy to deploy, and can operate on its own. Or alternatively, it can link in to become an integral part of the larger DrayTek Vigor family and help create a robust but manageable network. If you want to start small, there's no need to spend any more. The VigorAP 903 will happily function as a standalone AP, with 2.4GHz and 5GHz radios concurrently presenting up to four SSIDs each. At the side, you'll also spot five Gigabit Ethernet ports; the first accepts a PoE source (although there's a power supply in the box), the next three can be used to connect PCs or other network devices, and the fifth can be employed to create an isolated LAN with its own wireless services. With more 5GHz capable devices using the faster 5GHz band, the remaining 2.4GHz clients would experience less collisions and congestion. The VigorAP 903 is a simultaneous dual-band AP with 802.11ac Wave 2 WiFi, improving transfer speeds & efficiency with Multi-User MIMO. The five (5) Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports provide a Gigabit uplink for wireless access, and connectivity for additional network devices such as IP phones and printers. Connect a USB printer to share it, or connect a USB thermometer (sold separately) for temperature logging and alerts.

Simple to Set Up & Manage - Easily manage VigorAP access points and Mesh Wireless with the DrayTek Wireless app for phones and tablets, freely available for both Apple’s iOS (iPad, iPhone) and Google’s Android devices. Each VigorAP 903 has a QR-code to detect and configure that VigorAP with the DrayTek Wireless app, straight out of the box, no need to find it on the network, just plug it in, use the app to connect it to the AP and set it up. The VigorAP's MU-MIMO technology, when used with MU-MIMO capable wireless clients, allows each of the antennas (or Spatial Streams) to send data to separate wireless clients, which can potentially double the data transmission rate to clients. This is because instead of spending each transmission slot transmitting to a single client regardless of whether that client can support one or both of the VigorAP's streams, the VigorAP can spend that time slot sending data out to two clients, that each use a single spatial stream.
