TFZ #3 / TFZ T2 Galaxy / TRN V90 / TRN BA5 / TRN ST1 / Tin Audio T2 Pro / Tin Audio T2 / KBear KB06 As the BLON BL-03 sound really well, I am going to compare them to products from varying price ranges. That’s because they have been compared by some to top-of-the-line earphones. So let’s see how they hold up against various competitors:

I can see the BL03 being described in different ways. Neutral with bass boost, perhaps mildly V-shaped if one is sensitive to treble, but in my books I’d classify it as simply “warm”. The BL-Max has more quantity in the lows. It has a louder rumble and slightly longer decay in the subbass. Midbass also has more weight and more boomy in the BL-Max. Meanwhile, the BL-07 has better depth, texture and control. With the mids, the BL-07 has way better transparency, has more air, and sound more natural than the sometimes nasal and boxy sounding mids of the BL-Max. The BL-07 also has more details, sparkle, and longer decay in the highs. Cymbals and lead guitar sound livelier and more energetic. In terms of the soundstage, the BL-07 is wider and taller. Instruments are separated better and imaging is much clearer in the BL-07.However, once you have managed to get a fit, the BL-03 has a more analogue-ish tone with a warm tuning that offers a colored-yet-appealing midrange. The treble is also more present than the BL-MAX. Once you change the cable and get appropriate tips, the BL-05S sounds better than the BL-MAX in nearly all categories except for sub-bass rumble (BL-05S is rolled-off in that region). Imaging and separation is class-leading on the BL-05S so the BL-MAX don’t sound that impressive anymore. However, the BL-05S has a controversial color and I know many who didn’t buy simply because of the jade-green paintjob. BL-MAX has their own idiosyncrasies though with the oversized shell, so it’s a toss-up between them on aesthetics.

The treble on both of these earphones is quite similar but the V2’s treble sounds more forward and brighter because of it’s less forward midrange. Tonality-wise, the BLON sounds more natural with a lifelike timbre, although the V2 does add great texture to electric guitars. BL-03’s soundstage feels more organised, as well as being wider and has better layering.

With the BL-03s fitted correctly, the listening began. First, it’s worth pointing out the effectiveness of the passive noise reduction, and the sound isolation these (and I’m sure other) IEMs provide, thanks to their moulded shape and tight fit. These are perfect for private listening if you have roommates.

It is a fact that the BL-MAX shells are rather… maximized and looks quite menacing in the photos. However, the inner-side is mostly ergonomic and slowly tapers into a more “human-like” shape. Overall, the build quality is as good as one should expect at this price with the scratches being a concern. Both sets are non-fatiguing, but the IT00 have better clarity and micro-details. Soundstage and imaging is better on the E3000. The IT00 have detachable cables, but suffer from significant driver flex, which can be a deal-breaker for some. Vs. Tanchjim Tanya The BLON BL-03 is mold based on professional ear canal data analysis. The special shape is comfortable for long time wearing too and at the same time it can increase the passive noise reduction effect. It’s improved by adjusting the angle and position of the sound tube to the ear canal, achieving a high fit. This set is light and comfortable, I have used the E3000 for hours upon hours without any discomfort. I don’t detect any driver flex either. Internals The treble has good energy and provides detail and airiness. There’s a peak in the lower treble that adds clarity to the overall presentation but avoids any sibilance. After the lower treble peak, the high frequencies taper off steadily.I drove them with my headphone amp ( Drop THX AAA 789), a Sony DAP and an iPad. They proved easy to drive with all three. BLON has been around for a while as an IEM/Headphone manufacturer (circa 2014 as per their logo). However, they reached stardom with the BLON BL-03 which have earned a place in our Wall of Excellence as the de-facto budget IEM. Since the breakout success of the BL-03, BLON has tried to re-capture the lightning in the bottle but never gained the same traction.

Bill Withers’ vocals in “ Use Me” are just a little forward, with a fairly neutral density. This makes them feel real and close enough without being too intimate or too distant. It puts the vocals in front of the listener and not as if they’re shouting in your ears when they want to belt something out. Treble If you prefer a musical, warmer, more rhythmic sound, then the BL-03 will probably appeal to you. If you want a more resolving, more mid-centric sound, then you will probably like the T3. Not only do they isolate outside noise very effectively, certainly as well as many budget noise cancelling headphones will, but others can’t hear your music either. Gone is the maddening audible tshh tshh tshh sound associated with so many earbuds and portable headphones. Your cohabitants and fellow commuters will thank you! The BLON BL-03 are shaped like drops, with the summit hosting the 2-pin connector for the cable. The shells are entirely made of metal; they have a shiny, polished finish that make them appear chrome-plated. They’re basically chrome drops! They look oddly (and a bit unsettlingly) organic, as they only have curved lines and surfaces. I wouldn’t deem them out of place in a modern art museum (but that’s possibly also because of my poor understanding of modern art). The BLON BL-03 are probably good for every genre out there, but bass-heavy genres are just too much fun. These will probably be my go-to earphones for electronica. BLON BL-03 Comparisons CARBON DIAPHRAGM DYNAMIC DRIVER: Blon Bl03 IEM is equipped with 10mm Carbon diaphragm dynamic driver, which is designed to enhance the sound quality by reducing the mid-low frequency drum point and providing a more powerful and dynamic bass experience. The carbon diaphragm is lightweight yet rigid, allowing it to vibrate more efficiently and accurately, resulting in improved sound clarity and detail. The accessories are also a wee bit thin in quantity and quality. (Tips in picture are NOT included, they are the OG TinHifi foam tips). However, the BL-03 are slightly better in timbral accuracy. Both sets have a slow mid-bass and won’t win awards in bass speed or accuracy.
