Of course, if you prefer fully fledged gloves, we’ve got you covered there too! The free loom knitting pattern for these basic gloves is available in 4 different sizes. Is anyone else amazed at how nice these gloves look? There’s no seams or awkward bind offs. They really just look like store bought gloves, and I mean that in the nicest way possible. Hi Kyla, it’s really up to you. I’ve been working on both and there is more ease to using the Unusual Pear’s loom since it’s made for weaving use, but to be honest I felt like that embroidery hoop wasn’t much harder. Also those embroidery hoops are so inexpensive, that you could just finish your weave on the hoop, which is always nice. So I would say if you’re in the market for another loom, then buy the circular loom. If not then you can still enjoy circular weaving with the hoop 🙂

Step 4: Cut each marking about 1cm deep. There should be enough room for the yarn to wrap around the tabs or at least to hold the yarns in place. In a previous post, I showed how to warp a loom for circular weaving ( post 1 and post 2). Since then I’ve been working at it and trying to figure out what works best for me. One thing I’ve found to be interesting is the large warp clump in the middle. As you know, with a normally warped lap loom, there is no over lapping of warp threads. So the thing I found myself doing was wondering how can I weave to take away from the clump and make it less noticeable. And actually I like the look of the middle, but I don’t want it to be so apparent. First you’ll need to start with a cardboard circle. Four to five inches across is a good size for kids to start with. When you have your circle cut out, this is what you’ll do: Step 3: Continue this until you arrive to the last tab and secure the yarn with a knot between two tabs. So since I’ll have a few circular looms in my shop, I definitely need to share how to warp these looms and get them ready for some fun weaving.I also noticed that because the warp threads are dis-organized, it was much better if I wove higher up on the warp threads and then pushed my weft down to the center. This way I wouldn’t get confused as to which warp thread was next. Patented in 1802, dandy looms automatically rolled up the finished cloth, keeping the fell always the same length. They significantly speeded up hand weaving (still a major part of the textile industry in the 1800s). Similar mechanisms were used in power looms. Begin weaving the center with your thinnest yarn, with a plain weave. This is the smallest area on the loom, and using big stuff right away can make […] The process produces a round piece of weaving which you can use as a trivet or coaster or a decorative piece of wall art.

Circle weaving is just like rectangular frame loom weaving, but weave in a circular manner. Start from the center point or another section that you choose. I got it yesterday-so looking forward to using it. Still, I noticed when weaving on the knitting loom, that the reverse side actually is the one that is ‘correct’, not the front on which I am actually weaving- is that something typical with a circle weave, or have I done something odd? Wasn’t it easy?Just think of all the beautiful things your kids can make for themselves or to give away as gifts. Your kids will also love: Moncreif, Liz. "Choosing and Using Shuttles: Rug and Ski".
