I bought this keyboard for my new travel rig and have taken it on countless adventures around Los Angeles, Austin, NYC, and the greater Boston area. I ended loving it so much that I downsized from my trusty old Axiom Air 61 (just gave it away!) and put this on my desk. It's slightly longer than the apple magic keyboard with numeric keypad but has the perfect size to sit right in front of my keyboard anywhere I go. I really wanted a keyboard with more than 25 keys that would fit in airline carry on sized bags and this fits the bill.
The MPC Beats installer is located in the i nMusic Software Center and does not require an authorization code to use. Simply install the software and start making music! The inMusic Software Managerwill be saved as an application in your computer's Application or Programs folder. Just open the inMusic Software Manager to access your software and installers at any time! The sample or kit will populate the pads and can be triggered from the MPK's pads. The MPK's hardware Preset 1 is already mapped to Pad Bank A in MPC Beats. Just press and hold down the Prog Select Button and press Pad 1. The CV/Gate outputs are for sending control voltage (CV) and/or Gate signals to optional external synths or sequencers. Use standard 1/8” (3.5 mm) TS cables to send a single CV/Gate signal through the following outputs: Accompanying the pads are eight rotary knobs. The “endless” encoders allow you to dial in parameters with ease, perfect for controlling automation, volume and other settings. Simply assign any of the encoders to a parameter within your music software and dial in your settings without boundaries.
Disconnect other USB-MIDI devices from the computer. Rarely, other USB-MIDI devices could interrupt communication between the MPK mini Plus and the updater. It's best to just disconnect these if possible. Immediate first thoughts: The unit feels well built and sturdy with an almost metal feel. It was plug and play with Ableton Live 11 and Pro Tools 2023. The AIR team has released standalone software versions of the Hybrid, Mini Grand, and Velvet plugins. These apps will install on your computer when you run the plugin installers from the MPK mini Software Manager. These standalone programs are great to play with if you're not looking to use a DAW and just want to plug in the MPK and make some noise!Had the basic mini version before this, and upgraded to the plus as the only thing that really bothered me in the mini that the is only 2 octaves. When Master is enabled, MIDI data from this port will always go to the currently selected program in your project. The MPC Pads are an example of a device that is always set to Master. From the moment you install MPC Beats, you're ready to start creating. Remix one of the included songs, or start off with a genre template like Trap, Dance, Pop and more. Start fresh and select from 2GB worth of synthesizers, samplers, drum machines and audio effects. This subscription service comes pre-baked with 39,000 presets along with 24GB of samples plus, new plugin and sound content added regularly. This is a solid midi controller. I don't think there is any competition for this keyboard currently (that also fits my desk).
