About this deal

lumen maximum output – Suitable for lighting up your path in the dark when hiking and trail running. This light level can give a range up to 250m with a focused beam and will offer plenty of light in a wide beam as well. Automatically switches to reserve mode when batteries are almost drained (signaled by blinking light) Lighting performance Lighting performance with rechargeable CORE rechargeable battery Lighting performance as defined by the ANSI/PLATO FL 1 protocol

The "Tac" bit is short for Tactical and is aimed at the military, hunters, fishermen, those guys who seems to only war military issue/faux military issue kit despite looking like the military isn't something they are actual familiar with. The Petzl Tikkina is a HYBRID headlamp, meaning it comes with three standard batteries and is also compatible with the Petzl CORE rechargeable battery. I'm looking to overhaul my lighting bag with a few spare Petzl torches for Alpine mountaineering, Scottish winter and general tent use. Most of the torches I have at the moment are TacTikka (I think) but they are getting on a bit.

ie "Can anyone point me to a good place to see the real differences between all these different types of Tikka and Tactikka headtorches?"

Tactikka is also a hybrid; it can be operated with the standard batteries included or by Petzl's own Core rechargeable battery. Why the TACTIKKA+RGB? Well, it’s lightweight (less than three ounces), it’s weather-resistant, and it comes with the rechargeable CORE system so I can save some coin on batteries, though, I can pop in three AAAs if I’m far from an outlet. It’s plenty bright with three levels of illumination for white light maxing out at 350 lumens, which is more than I ever needed for my travels in the dark for hunting season. I don’t think I ever moved beyond the dimmest setting. In a pinch, I also used that dimmest white light setting as I would a lantern by suspending it from a rope overhead. It worked brilliantly. Red, green and blue lighting for close range vision while remaining discreet and preserving night vision The Tac versions might also get a red filter/light for better night time work for map reading etc..Our options for strategic lighting ranged from cheap “C” cell flashlights that always seemed to get water inside, guaranteeing their death by corrosion, or those six-volt “lanterns” that were about as big as a coffee can and came in all of the primary colors. It seems like I got a red one for several of my birthdays. Lighting performance Lighting performance with 3 AAA / LR03 batteries Lighting performance as defined by the ANSI/PLATO FL 1 protocol

ThePetzlTactikkahead torch has had a bit of a revamp! It’s now brighter than the previous model and weighs 4g less! It has been designed withstealth in mind; it is perfect for tactical activities, fishing, hunting and nature watching. This versatile and reliable headlampoffers a selection of beams to choose from all with their own intended use. The simple and uncomplicated design makes it very easy to operate. Unfortunately it just takes time to read up on the different brands and models and decide what features you like best and hence the model. The HYBRID CONCEPT design allows ARIA series headlamps to run on either the CORE rechargeable battery or three AAA/LR03 batteries without an adapter. HYBRID CONCEPT design: TIKKA® comes with three AAA/LR03 batteries and is also compatible with the CORE rechargeable battery (not included); it automatically detects the energy source and adjusts lighting performance Probably a bit late to the party but I also lost the will to live with Petzl. Not least because (at the time?) they were advertising the new range which wasn't even available to buy.The TACTIKKA+RGB has a 160 hour burn time for lowest-level (6 lumens) white light, 60 hours for the colored lights, and 2 hours for maximum brightness. And the strobe is visible at 700 meters for 400 hours. Surely they could find me before the batteries konk out. I have a Pixa 3...mind you I used to (when I ran my own shop) sell most of the Petzl range including all the Tac versions.... Headlamps from our ARIA range are specifically designed to meet the needs of professional craftspeople, maintenance workers, and stage riggers.

Traditionally used by hunters, headlamps with Red, Green, and Blue (RGB) lights are gaining in popularity for all outdoor adventurers. Many feel the green light is better for night vision out on trails and for those looking for wildlife it is easier to spot nocturnal action. The Petzl Tactikka +RGB headlamp will give you all 3 color options in addition to clean and clear white output at 3 brightness setting.Designed for activities where stealth is key, the TACTIKKA + headlamp offers 350-lumen brightness and a mixed beam, for comfortable proximity lighting and rapid movement. It also has red lighting to preserve night vision and ensure stealth. TACTIKKA + comes with 3 standard batteries and is also compatible with the CORE rechargeable battery, thanks to its HYBRID CONCEPT design.
