What made you want to write Poems Aloud?This joyful collection of more than 50 poems superbly conjures the sights, sounds and rhythms of the Caribbean. It was naked until it put on the “head / That once belonged to me”. The speaker sees himself doing things that he would normally never do and asks that those involved do not take offense. This poem benefits greatly from being read out loud due to the use of alliteration. The sounds of nonsense words are half the fun.
