Ransom My Heart, written by the Princess of Genovia Mia Thermopolis. He’s a tall, handsome knight with a secret. She’s an adventurous beauty with more than a few secrets of her own. Finnula needs money for her sister’s dowry, and fast. Hugo Fitzstephen, returning home to England from the Crusades with saddlebags of jewels, has money, and lots of it. What could be simpler than to kidnap him and hold him for ransom? Royal Wedding Disaster (set during Royal Wedding, of course) – Olivia’s half-sister Mia is very busy learning how to take over the country while trying to plan a wedding and her father is actually getting remarried himself-to Mia’s mother!-and spends most of his time “renovating” the summer palace, although Grandmere says he is just hiding from the wedding preparations. Olivia hardly gets to see either of them. Fortunately, Grandmere has her own plans for Mia’s wedding, and needs Olivia’s help to pull them off. The Princess Diaries is a young adult series written by Meg Cabot. It’s about Mia who is the princess and heir to the throne of Genovia, a small country in Europe. The novel is supposed to be about Princess Mia dealing with the pandemic arriving at her doorstep. In my opinion, the author had a great chance to give some substance to the characters instead the majority of the book is just fluff. No real conflict. Worse, Mia is still insecure about her husband Michael. She passes her time drinking wine in sweatpants. She says she is worried about her family and the people of Genova but she doesn't do much except a couple of indictments to mandate masks and social distancing. Worse, all the fun of reading it went away between how political the book was and Mia making fun of Americans.

The Princess Diaries (11 book series) Kindle Edition

The writing and plot were my favourite bits of this book though! Cabot's signature sarcastic humour and lively storytelling were the main reason I finished reading this book. There were several moments when I was giggling at hilarious dialogue and the nasty mishaps these characters kept falling into. I thought this book was an adult novel, but I'm not sure. The character of Mia is so immature that I wondered if she had ever grown from her introduction to this series. When I looked this up to see how long this series had been running, I was amazed to see that the very first book was for kids 11 years old and up...it sure has changed since Mia is married. However, she still acts very immaturely, and I can't suspend my disbelief enough to envision her running a country. Cons: Who in their right mind connects the Princess Diaries (which I'm only on book 4 of but I'm pretty sure I'd let a 12 year old read) with a book like this that is sooo much an adult novel. It's supposedly written by Princess Mia...which is a cute way to have a pen name...IF IN THE SAME AGE RANGE. If I were a Mom and bought this book for my kid I would be seriously pissed off. It doesn't look like a bodice ripper, either.

I was very very excited to visit Genovia in this book. But ultimately, I think this is one piece of nostalgia I should have left in the past. Or at least just watched the movie. This book is fine, but I really didn’t enjoy reading it. I wasn’t charmed by the characters and felt annoyed and outraged more often than joyful. It does focus on the early days of the pandemic, but instead of being funny or endearing, I just found the characters insufferable. This was quite an interesting book, a little different from those Princess Diaries that I’ve recently read, with Princess Mia talking and writing on her journal. This time, Ransom My Heart was being narrated by a third person and it was done OK. I actually liked the ending of the story, it had me smiling until I went to bed. Of course, this was a Meg Cabot book, so I really had fun reading it, even though this isn’t YA. Ransom My Heart is more mature, more family oriented, more risky and deadly. The earliest two books in the series are the ‘Princess Diaries’ released in October 2000. The second publication of the series was the second volume entitled “Princess in the Spotlight” that was released in June 2001. It is also known as the Take 2.

Finnula Crais is out to catch a rich man. Why has Fair Finn switched from hunting game to hunting men? To help out her beloved sister, of course! I normally don't read Historical Romances, but I really liked the short snippets of this story we got in Forever Princess and I thought that I should give it a go. I was not disappointed. I didn't expect Sheriff de Brissac to have a heart. I thought he was going to be an antagonist, but he's a genuine character and a hero.Jazmin Grace Grimaldi (1992–present): the illegitimate daughter of Albert II, Prince of Monaco, born and living in the U.S. Mia is sometimes shy and has a down-to-earth personality, though on occasion Mia shows herself to be quite sarcastic and sly. Throughout the series she is very self-critical of herself, describing herself as flat-chested, taller than most girls at 5-foot-9, and with embarrassingly large feet. She also has a tendency to over-analyze things and worry too much. The hilarious fifth installment of the #1 New York Times bestselling Princess Diaries–Will Mia attend the senior prom or not??? Families can talk about what it would mean to discover you're suddenly famous or very rich. Would it all be positive? What are some of the downsides? The idea that non-STEM intelligence is somehow lesser is a pet peeve of mine, both as a feminist and as someone who majored in the humanities. “Softer” skills like communication and writing are associated with femininity today, though they weren’t always (especially since the majority of women were illiterate in the not-so-distant past, a problem that continues today in several countries, but I digress). Michael has reassured Mia several times that she IS smart and that he DOES want to be with her, but it never seems to take, and I wonder if the realization that so-called women’s skills are dismissed as inferior would have helped her finally take that message to heart.

I, unfortunately, did not enjoy this one that much. While I did enjoy seeing how Mia and the country of Genovia responded to COVID-19, I thought this installment was tedious and would have been better as a novella. I did love the cameos of the wide variety of characters we know and love from The Princess Diaries. Overall, it just wasn’t for me.There was a small Princess Diaries Vibe to it as well!! The characters and setting were really easy to get into if you like old english speaking!! Finnula is kind, generous, witty, and stubborn. I really liked her relationship with her siblings and the villagers. During the Covid-19 pandemic, a section of the diary of Princess Mia Thermopolis of Genovia fell into the hands of Meg Cabot, the Princess’s royal biographer. Ransom My Heart is about Fair Finn, the youngest among seven siblings, the boyish among the brood. Finnula Crais was born into a really big family but her parents soon passed away. At least, however, she had an older brother who was old enough to raise the rest of the family. Princess Charlotte, Duchess of Valentinois (1898–1977): the illegitimate daughter of Louis II, Prince of Monaco, later legitimized as his legal heiress; mother of Rainier III, Prince of Monaco.

Helen Thermopolis: Mia's mother. She has a career as an artist and spends most of her time in her studio.Mia's (Meg's) writing abilities continue to blow me away. It was just amazing. No, telling you it was amazing doesn't do it any justice because it truly was a great book. I mean seriously good. I've read this book THREE TIMES! That's how good this book is! It's kinda cringe that Mia is still insecure about Judith Gershner after all these years. It's not like Michael and Judith ever had a long-term relationship; they hooked up once and that was it. I can understand teenage Mia freaking out about it, but adult Mia, wedded mother of two, whose husband had never given her reason to worry? Just comes off as silly Honestly, after all we’ve been through, what could be more comforting for any lover of royal romance than snuggling up with a brand new installment of the diary of the princess who started it all? Look for it in March 2023! Ultimately, the book is short and fun but I don’t think it was necessary for Princess Mia’s legacy. Inevitably, things begin to heat up as Finn uses herself as bait to lure Hugo. Her hostage is all too happy to find himself the center of attention of such a determined huntress.
