About this deal

it's not cheap for a can of "liquid", but I suppose if it's got lots of magic in it then it's quite cheap! I need to clean my central heating system due to corrosion/magnetite sludge producing excessive hydrogen (did the test with the match which confirmed this was hydrogen). A good cleaner is Sentinel X400, or X800 which is somewhat more aggressive. X400 can be left in the system, but will cease to loosen sludge after about 4 weeks. X800 should be circulated and the system drained and refilled several times to remove it. Fernox and Kamco are reputable makers of similar products. What is the best product to get rid remove corrosion/magnetite sludge? Is Sentinel X400 more appropriate than X800? What is the difference between both products?

Product | Central Heating Cleaning | Sentinel

A constant flow of water kept on coming out of the radiator that is the closet to the drain valve which confuses me as no more water is coming out of the external and only drain valve If you want to actually dissolve the sludge you need citric which is sold for the purpose as Fernox DS40. The older type in the plastic tub is far better than the square cardboard box! I am also planning on cleaning the magnaclean filter, could this also be part of the root cause to my issue? Continues bleeding the radiators downstairs, starting with the closet to the boiler until no water or sound could be heardI spoke to Rep acouple of years ago asking why some manufactures say 2 weeks and some 1 month is the max time to leave in the system. X300 Cleaner for New Systems is designed to target excess flux residues, greases, and oils in addition to installation debris and sludge. Not only this, but X300 passivates the metal surfaces and helps to prevent copper deposition, a common cause of pinhole corrosion in radiators. Ideally, the product should be added at the first filling of the system. The water should then be circulated at normal operating temperatures for 2 hours before being flushed out. If you are using cold water, leave to circulate for 24 hours. Powerflushing is not necessary when using this product. The system I’m dealing with is not new, but is less than 6 months old

Sentinel X800 Fast Acting Cleaner into a system? How do I get Sentinel X800 Fast Acting Cleaner into a system?

A few examples of the kind of debris that can be found in new systems include copper swarf, flux residues, casting sands and rust. Other contaminants can include greases and stamping oils used in the manufacturing process, sometimes applied excessively. When introduced into a central heating system, these materials can cause problems such as corrosion. Sentinel X800 Jetflo is a powerful, highly active cleaning agent for use in central heating systems. It is specifically designed for use in conjunction with power flushing equipment and will remove objectionable iron oxide and calcium based deposits from heat exchangers, radiators and pipe work. Its unique composition allows Sentinel X800 Jetflo to act as a penetrating dispersant under neutral pH conditions, eliminating the need to clean with conventional acids and the problems associated with them. The formulation also contains agents to help protect metal from corrosion.Sentinel X800 Fast Acting Cleaner can be added to the system in a number of ways. For open vented systems, dose via the expansion tank during the final fill. For empty sealed systems, add to any convenient point before filling. For full sealed systems, use a Sentinel Dosing Vessel to inject via the filling loop or other access point. It can also be dosed through a powerflushing machine.

Product Facts

After cleaning, the system should be drained and flushed until the water runs clear. On refilling, the system should be treated with Sentinel X100 Inhibitor, or Sentinel X500 Inhibited Antifreeze. But neither remove sludge. Both are chellating agents which try to get loose particles into suspension. Actually I should be fine, did not know the difference between single and double feed cylinders (//www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=206316). power-flushing etc is probably the right thing to do after, but since I'm changing most of mine soon I'll do that later.
