About this deal

After leaving school, Lynda La Plante briefly worked as a trainee at a fashion house before moving to London to pursue an acting career. She landed a role in a touring production of the musical Cabaret and later worked as a nightclub hostess to make ends meet. In the early 1970s, she turned to writing, penning episodes of popular British television shows like Z-Cars and The Sweeney. For as long as Lucia Gomez has been the police chief in the city of Highland Isle, near Kindle County, she has known that any woman in law enforcement must walk a precarious line between authority and camaraderie to gain respect. She has maintained a spotless reputation—until now. Three male police officers have accused her of soliciting sex in exchange for promotions to higher ranks. With few people left who she can trust, Chief Gomez turns to an old friend, Rik Dudek, to act as her attorney in the federal grand jury investigation, insisting to Rik that the accusations against her are part of an ugly smear campaign designed to destroy her career and empower her enemies—both outside the police force and within.. Lynda has received a huge amount of awards over her time in the field, including becoming an honorary-member of both the Liverpool John Moores University and British Film Institute. She was also awarded with the Dennis-Potter Writers-Award from the British-Academy of Film and Television Arts, and she received the Edgar-Allan Poe Writer’s Award (not to mention an Emmy) for her mini-series Prime Suspect.

I love the Joseph O’Loughlin books and have read them all in the last 3 weeks. After the other wife have there been or will be more novels written. I love the books and the way the novels are written. Reply However, departing from the usual style doesn’t always work – at least not for all readers. On this occasion I couldn’t summon up interest or empathy with either the main character – a bizarre, slightly autistic, slightly anarchic, slightly lesbian, very unusual woman – or the subject of the book (basically sex in its various forms). It was recommended as the top book for 28 million members of a reading club spread across 15 countries. The novel has also been into more than 22 foreign languages all over the world. The second novel written by author Robotham allowed him to win the Ned Kelly Award in the year 2005 in the category of the Best Crime Novel. It was given to him by the Crime Writers Association of Australia.

I have lived in China for the past 2O years,so getting English novels is not easy, although found odd ones on the internet here. So,my sister posts some to me,probably buys in Waterstones. Last year she sent a couple of your books, this year a couple more, including WIDOWS REVENGE,but this is the second one in the series,so cannot read it yet I am now hooked on them, have you any idea where they are available here. I am a 77 year old avid reader with a Chinese wife.I am preparing a new list to send to her, but if you have any idea where they may be available in China, would be great. I live in Suzhou City, about 60 miles inland from Shanghai. Reply This is the second fan letter I have written to an author. Stephen king was the first. Love your books…(as I love his). I have a postcard from 1983 from King which I treasure. For the second time in my life I felt the need to express how much I enjoy your writing. Thanks !! Reply Scott Turow is one of the best legal thriller writers. In fact, Presumed Innocent is one of the best ever in the genre.

Clarice “Pinky” Granum spent most of her youth experimenting with an impressive array of drugs and failing out of various professions, including the police academy. Pinky knows that in the eyes of most people, she's nothing but a screwup—but she doesn't trust most people's opinions anyway. Moreover, she finally has a respectable-enough job as a licensed P.I. working for Rik on his roster of mostly minor cases, like workman's comp, DUIs and bar fights. Rik's shabby office and even shabbier cases are a far cry from the kinds of high-profile criminal matters Pinky became familiar with in the law office of her grandfather, Sandy Stern. But Rik and Pinky feel that Chief Gomez’s case, which has attracted national attention, is their chance to break into the legal big leagues. Lynda La Plante was born Lynda J.
