About this deal

The Scole Experiment Movie is a joint American/British project currently ' in development' with producers @AndrewdDeane of Industry Entertainment Partners (Los Angeles, US) and Rory Rooney (UK). By pioneering brand new forms of tangible paranormal phenomena the Communicator Team aimed to prove conclusively, once and for all, that death does not exist and that there are other dimensions of existence. Some of the tangible objects took the form of messages transmitted onto photographic film, audiotape, and videotape.

The Skeptoid weekly science podcast is a free public service from Skeptoid Media, a 501(c)(3) educational nonprofit. The cellar had developed into an Experimental Science Room but was known, more affectionately, as the 'Scole Hole'. Wiseman, R., Greening, E., Smith, M. "Belief in the paranormal and suggestion in the seance room." British Journal of Psychology. 1 Aug. 2003, Volume 94, Issue 3: 285–297. Perhaps the biggest red flag in the Scole Experiment is the venue in which the sittings took place: a room in the basement of the house in Scole where two of the mediums lived, Robin and Sandra Foy. Rather than controlling the environment, the investigators ceded total control over the room and conditions to the mediums. The seances were held about once a month, which gave the Foys ample time to make any desired alterations to the room. There's no evidence that they did so, but granting them unrestricted opportunity pretty much torpedoed any hope for credibility. The Scole Report states that the room was available for examination before and after every seance, but there's no reason to believe that any truly thorough examination was ever performed; and in any event it's a poor substitute for what the investigators should have done, which was to provide their own room over which the mediums had no control at all. (A few seances were held at other locations, but the Scole Report describes the results from those as "variable".)Wiseman, R., Morris, R. Guidelines for testing psychic claimants. Hatfield, UK: University of Hertfordshire Press, 1995. These other dimensions are hidden from normal perception by the limitations of our senses and our current scientific instruments.

Later, even more amazing images were received on videotape and messages were transmitted onto audio-tape. Amongst the unusual occurrences they claimed to experience were dancing lights, the sound of ringing bells and objects appearing and hovering in mid-air. The claims attracted criticism from those who suggested that the group's insistence on complete darkness invited suspicion. The quartet, initially working with three friends, set out to see if the Victorian practice of holding séances had any basis in fact and whether it had been discredited unfairly as hocus-pocus. Although Alan and Diana were ostensibly 'unconscious' or in 'trance' during many of the experimental sessions, they, along with the Foys, undertook any necessary preparation for the experimental sessions, e.g. acquiring materials requested by the Spirit Team.

The Scole Association is a voluntary organisation, administered by the curators of The Scole Files, whose volunteer members are helping to spread information about The Scole Experiment worldwide, including that contained in The Scole Files. A third red flag is the fact that there's been no followup. If amazing phenomena truly did happen at the Scole Experiment, it would have changed the world. Mainstream psychologists and other academics would have gotten in on it, it would have made worldwide headlines, and it would be repeated in labs everywhere and become mainstream science. They did have the opportunity: experimental psychologist and author Richard Wiseman provided secure envelopes for the film rolls to the experimenters, within which film always failed to be exposed. Rather than coming away impressed and spreading the word, Wiseman summed it up to me in six words: "It was a load of rubbish!" will be the 30th Anniversary of the first significant phenomenon witnessed during The Scole Experiment (1993-1998). Robin also compiled a comprehensive diary record of every session of The Scole Experiment, which included the contemporary notes written by all the members of the Scole Group while the experiments were being undertaken. the investigators encountered evidence favouring the hypothesis of intelligent forces able to influence material objects, and to convey associated meaningful messages, both visual and aural.'The Group was told that their Communicator Team alone consisted of ‘thousands of minds’, all working in unison towards achieving this tangible proof of the existence of other dimensions. After making their way down the winding stairs and through a solid oak door to the midnight blue cellar, those who took part in the Scole Experiment would be seated around a round table in the middle of the room. The couple shared the same aims of proving that that humans survive the death event and go on to an Afterlife. We readily agreed and it was decided that the Norfolk Experimental Group, (Diana Bennett, Alan Bennett, Jane Solomon, Grant Solomon), would be formed and the new work would be known as THE NORFOLK EXPERIMENT . Mellenbergh, G.J. Advising on Research Methods: A consultant's companion. Rosmalen: Johannes van Kessel, 2008. 143-180.

They lived in the village of Scole in Norfolk, in Street Farmhouse, which was the venue for the experiments. If I go to Penn & Teller's magic show to look for evidence of deception, but I impose the rule that I have to stay in my seat and watch the show as presented, and I'm not allowed to go onstage and examine the performers or the equipment, or watch from behind, or observe the preparations, I guarantee you that I also will find no evidence of deception. Placing illuminated wrist cuffs on the seance mediums, and allowing no further controls, is perfectly analogous to having Teller show you his arms "Hey, look, nothing up my sleeves," then allowing him total control over everything that follows. It can reasonably be argued that the Scole Experiment investigators (whether deliberately or through near-total investigative incompetence) created the conditions of a stage show designed to fool an audience. The unique and revolutionary evidence provided by The Scole Experiment may suggest that solid scientific proof of survival may not be far off. If so, there are unavoidable and far-reachingimplications for us all. In addition to the film documentary, three books - with images, descriptions, and analysis - provide a comprehensive overview of this 'important to science' 5-year experiment. Montague Keen, ProfessorArthur Ellison, & Professor David Fontana [senior members of the SPR and authors of The Scole Report]–They conducted serious scientific research during 500 experiments collecting data - photographs, audio, video, voices, light phenomena and other manifestations observed by witnesses - and seeking evidence for survival of the human personality or 'consciousness' into an Afterlife, using an entirely new and unique 'energy-based' approach. In October 1993, a Churchill Crown coin arrived in the Scole cellar with a thud. Sir Winston Churchillhad been a long-term 'Communicator' of Scole Group members, Robin Foy and Sandra Foy.
