About this deal

Well eric: I too do not want to buy from China so I buy recycled lenses and cameras I.e. secondhand . For me I have a new simple reason : for the safety of the world I do not want to buy things made in China ! The Zhong Yi 50mm 0.95 E lenses really struggled here and the Zenitar 50mm 0.95 E set a new negative record so I was very curious to see how the TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 fares.

For those that can live without having an f/0.95 lens the Voigtlander VM 50mm 1.2 might be the more compelling option here, too. on the APSC-sized Fujifilm X-mount sensor, a 35mm lens gives an equivalent view of 50mm at a 1.5x crop factor, hence the mention of the Noctilux in the title. Announced on 25 November 2022, the TTArtisan 35mm ƒ0.95 seeks to break new boundaries for Fujifilm X-mount. For Fujifilm native lenses, there are currently no lens of this spec with the closest in terms of maximum aperture size, the classic XF35mm ƒ1.4, and of course, the more modern XF33mm ƒ1.4 (my review here). And for E-mount users it will be interesting to see if this lens performs better than the Zhong Yi 50mm 0.95 E. From the outer apperance this looks very much like a Leica M lens including the famous red dot. Markings are yellow/white (engraved and filled with paint) focus ring has perfect resistance and turns about 120° from the minimum focus distance of 0.7 m to infinity.

NOTE: I missed focusing on this shot, but I kinda like the end effect TTArtisan 35mm ƒ0.95 on Fujifilm X-Pro3Optically I think this review is a very accurate representation of reality. What I wanted to add that vignetting is extremely focus distance dependent. So it only becomes a serious problem nearing infinity, regardless of the aperture, though certainly stopping the lens down worsens the extreme corners of the extreme corners. And look at the market now, thanks to 7Artisans, TTArtisan, Pergear - there are lots of lens options at a fraction cost of Fuji XF 35mm F1.4. And in this perspective, it is then important to say the TTArtisan 35mm ƒ0.95 is 1% the price of the Leica 50mm Noctilux and easily only approximately 33% of its weight, and we cannot run from the laws of physics in lens design. Most likely the same optical design as the f1.4, made bigger . (So vintage-style rendering..) For a bit more money, I think the 7artisans 35mm f0.95 is a better overall lens. (Much more complex optical design, so much better IQ / sharper wide open..)

TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 Lens Review - Ultra-fast, Ultra-affordable TTArtisan 50mm f/0.95 Lens Review - Ultra-fast, Ultra-affordable

When it comes to looks and feel, the TTArtisan f/0.95 in ways exceeds what you may be used to from your Fujifilm lenses but it is, of course, subjective and depends on your taste. The TTArtisan 50mm 0.95 is not a great choice for stopped down landscape shooting but I do not think anyone expected it to be. On the nature of ultra-fast lenses, some will argue that there is little point to investing in one if you’re not going to shoot it full throttle all day and live your best max. ap. life. Bro, the TTA all but eliminates this consideration; you can have an extra stop or two and only use it when your art demands it.It may be an acquired taste shooting at f/0.95 exclusively but think of it as a different paintbrush and with a bit of patience I think you can create unique images with this lens. I did read that the 7artisan version appears to be more like a 1.2/1.4 when it comes to actual light transmission and DOF - which would defeat the purpose if true. I prefer going from ƒ1.4 onwards on this lens, while I am sure some users will be keen on the rendering at ƒ0.95.
