About this deal

Paint on a second coat of sealant, if desired. How many coats you choose to do is entirely up to you, but 2 coats of sealant on your soles will give you more protection than just 1. Just make sure you wait at least 15-20 minutes for each coat to dry. A. If you are looking to get creative and paint leather shoes, then yes, it is a great leather paint for shoes. If you need to restore or repair your shoes, then you're best using our Shoe Colouring Kit. TIP: If you don’t have a heat gun you can use a hairdryer. Alternatively you can let them air dry, but obviously this takes longer. Tape off the edges of your shoe, if desired. To prevent getting paint on places other than the sole of the shoe, use painter’s tape. Apply the tape to the edges and other sections of the shoe that you want protected from paint. Remove the painter’s tape once the shoes are dry, if necessary. Once your soles are completely dry and finished, you can take off any painter’s tape that you used. Peel it off carefully so that you don’t ruin the paint job. [9] X Research source Clean your shoes using rubbing alcohol. According to Shoe Care Expert Rio Jongsae Kim, it's very important to "clean the soles first."Take a clean cotton ball and dip it in rubbing alcohol. Use the cotton ball to wipe down each sole, cleaning off any dirt. The rubbing alcohol and clean surface will help the color adhere to the shoe. [1] X Research source Lightly trace the outline on your sneakers with a pencil. Use a standard HB pencil to add the design outline to your sneakers. Add the markings lightly so they don’t show up through the paint and so you can erase and make corrections if you need to. Sketch out the entire design you plan to add to the sneakers. [6] X Research sourceNow, moving on to the surfaces of the upper, use the masking tape to roughly cover each detail (e.g. the Swooshes or lacestays) that you don’t want to paint, ensuring the edges are completely covered. Our Leather Paint has built in Leather Finish, so it is not necessary to apply any additional finishing coats. However, you may wish to apply either Leather Finish or our Natural Leather Finish if you want to alter the shine or feel. Using your craft knife, remove the excess tape by cutting around the outline of the shape, applying a light but firm pressure. Don’t press too hard – just enough to cut the tape – otherwise you risk scratching the material of the uppers. For each different detail, press the tape down firmly to flatten it and use your nail on the edges to trace an outline of the shape. Simply spray the Leather Paint onto the leather from a distance of about 30cm. You should spray it on in fine coats, and build them up, rather than trying to spray on one heavy coat of paint. Building up thin coats will make the leather feel nicer once finished, and avoid the risk of any drips or runs in the paint.

On some shoes, a paste-like residue may form on the surface of the sneaker. Don’t worry – this is just the factory finish coming off. Remove the laces. Set the laces aside or consider replacing them with new ones that will complement the shoes when they’re painted. Keep the laces nearby so you can put them on when you’re done. But everyone who has a pair knows the effort involved in trying to keep them clean! We are currently endeavoring to paint an aircraft in the red/white RAF trainer paint scheme. We have painted numerous aircraft in the past in accurate US military markings. RAF markings are a bit new to us. We have some questions which are listed below. I am new to this forum and I feel this request may spur some lively discussion. Here goes! A. Yes, as shown in our video painting leather shoes, you can also use it as a leather spray paint by using our airbrush. To use it as a leather spray paint, you may need to add up to 10% water to thin the paint down. Question 4 – Done! PPG Concept color codes – I’ll work this from my side of the pond. Should be easier from this end. Apply 3-4 more layers to both sides of the sneakers. By the time you finish each side of the sneaker, the coat of paint on the other side should be dry enough for you to add another layer. Continue adding layers until the design is complete and you’re happy with the paint. [11] X Research source

First, you need your tools. A hard brush, a soft brush made from something like horse hair, and a microfibre cloth. BTW, does anyone know what was the first RAF trainer to wear this red/white/grey scheme? I'm thinking the Dominie as I can't recall seeing a fluorescent marked example? Use even strokes to apply the first coat of paint. Using a clean brush, apply the paint in even strokes over the sides and bottoms of your soles. Go slowly and make sure you don’t apply paint in any places where you don’t want it, especially if you’re not using painter’s tape. [5] X Research source Shoe Care Specialist Rio Jongsae Kim emphasizes that you should "apply a couple of light coats of paint" instead of one heavy coat.Keep applying paint until the colour is solid and there are no streaks. This should take at least 2-3 layers.
