The Smart TV system is Google TV with a wide range of VOD apps from Netflix, Disney+, Prime Video and more, with some catch-up services but no Freeview Play or BBC iPlayer out of the box. It is fast and stable with 4K HDR and Dolby Atmos available from those apps supporting them. It drops things down to 60Hz with de-judder and Motion Clarity Pro, with the older IPQ processor using Machine Learning with SR rather than the Deep Learning capacity of those before it. You’ll also have to settle for Dolby Vision and HDR10+ with Dolby Vision IQ also limited to the C735 and above, but neither is a great loss if you don’t really need it. As with several of the other manufacturers we’ve featured this year, there’s a clear progression in terms of both pricing and the ever-improving features list as you work your way from the cheapest TVs to the most expensive. This means you should be free to figure out your best option either by setting a budget and seeing what fits your limit, or by determining what features and specifications you need for your own viewing preferences and line-up your choices accordingly.
The TCL 55C635K has a wide viewing angle, which allows viewers to enjoy the picture from almost any position in the room. Viewing angles are poor as we would expect from this type of VA panel with brightness, colour and gamma shift seen as soon as you move 30 degrees off-axis to the sides or get above or below the set. Room positioning is important to get the best from this TCL C735 and when watching directly onto the screen many of the issues are mitigated, giving the TV very good image quality at the price point.

The TCL 55C635K does not use MicroLED technology. MicroLED displays offer better brightness and contrast than traditional LED displays and are more energy efficient. However, MicroLED displays are still relatively new and expensive and have yet to be widely available.
