About this deal

Lucy’s story could have a happy ending but it could so easily have been different. Policy and priorities need to change so that every child has a permanent family of their own as soon as possible. I am very proud of all of my children not only for what they have achieved but also for the people they have become. Having read all of Cathy Glass’ books, I had high expectations of this book, and they were fulfilled! I recommend this book to anybody. Tilly, aged 14, is very angry with her parents. Her step-father, Dave, abuses her mother, but she won’t leave him. Unable to cope with their fighting any longer and fearing for her own safety Tilly puts herself into foster care. She arrives at experienced foster carer, Cathy’s home with a cut on her face from getting in the way of another fight. Any issues with the book list you are seeing? Or is there an author or series we don’t have? Let me know!

Cathy | Cathy Glass Cathy | Cathy Glass

The eleventh memoir and latest title from the internationally bestselling author and foster carer Cathy Glass. This book tells the true story of Cathy's adopted daughter Lucy. Adrian, Lucy and Paula are all young adults now. Adrian went away to study at university and then returned home. Lucy and Paula went to local colleges and university.I have three children, two birth children and one adopted child. When I left school I held a clerical position in the civil service, which I left to start a family. At the same time I became a foster carer, the inspiration for much of my writing. I have been a foster carer for over 25 years. I have a degree in education and psychology which I was awarded as a mature student. My true-life stories show the suffering and courage of some of the most vulnerable children in our society and have world-wide appeal. My books are also used by trainers and practitioners, working in childcare and child protection. I struggle reviewing books like this because they are stories about people's lives. They're real, and they're unpleasant, and I feel a little bad about reading about people's unhappiness. However, I do really enjoy these books, and I feel that Cathy Glass does a very good job in making people aware of what awful things go on behind closed doors. I have dabbled in fostering, and it's hard and heartbreaking to witness what people do to children. ive just finished reading Family torn apart. what a wonderful story about Angie & Polly being taken from theiŕ home by police and taken to Cathy because of allegations made about their father by their older sister.i am now going to read NEGLECTED my last one. I await more stories to read by Cathy Glass a wonderfull authur, mother, carer Reply Our servers are getting hit pretty hard right now. To continue shopping, enter the characters as they are shown

I've just had to give up on a book of which I had high expectations so needed a replacement to settle me and Cathy Glass books are consistently good quality. I have read all Cathy’s books. Just finished Neglected but heard there was one due out in February. Could you tell me what its called. Couldn't put the book down! I love Cathy Glass' work and this was no different. A really personal memoir and all the more touching as Lucy features in other books too." Anyway, this book tells the story of Tilly who is 14 and has requested to go into care as she can no longer live with her mother and step-father. Her SF is abusive towards her mother, manipulative and cruel. Tilly can't put up with it anymore and goes to social services and demands to live elsewhere.

A Terrible Secret: Scared for her safety, Tilly places

Kudos to my Mom as well as yourself for all that you both have done and that you remain doing to this day. Loved it! I read this in couple of sittings, really hard to put down, fantastic read, well done Cathy and congratulations…" Lucy and I have always believed we were destined to be mother and daughter. It just took us a while to find each other. I hope you enjoy Lucy’s story. I enjoyed writing it. The latest book in the Lincoln Lawyer series comes out this month. This will be the 7th book in that series, and the 41st book in the Bosch Universe. Harry Bosch also plays a big part in this book. This story is about Tilly (14) and her growing up in a house with domestic abuse. There are things that come up, that in a fictional book, we might call plot twists. Tilly manages to get out of the situation, leaving her mother and stepfather to sort themselves out. Things are rarely straight forward, even when you’re thinking, ‘things couldn’t get any worse.’I think I’ve read most of your books. however you have a book that is Book one, two and three. Which ones are they??? I’m reading Neglected now and like all your books I enjoy reading them all. What is the one before Neglected??? Please let me know. Many thanks. Madeline Reply This is the story of my adopted daughter, Lucy, who came to me as a foster child and stayed for good.

Book Reviews

Lucy was born to a single parent who had herself been abused and neglected for most of her childhood. Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope with a baby and Lucy was neglected right from the start. Despite concerns being raised by her teachers and other adults Lucy wasn’t taken into permanent foster care until she was eight years old. But even then her problems weren’t over. As she was moved from one foster home to another she became increasingly upset and angry.
