About this deal

McNab assumed his pseudonym while writing Bravo Two Zero. When he appeared on television to promote his books or to act as a special services expert, his face was shadowed to prevent identification. [14] According to the book The Big Breach, by Richard Tomlinson, a renegade MI6 spy, McNab was part of a special training team after the Iraq war, training MI6 recruits in sabotage and guerrilla warfare techniques.

For me this doesn’t quite clear McNab’s usually high bar, but despite that, Whatever It Takes is still a damn good thriller, with likeable characters, well-thought through scenarios that never totally shattered my suspension of disbelief and for that I’ll happily forgive a premise that didn’t quite live up to its initial promise. The plot twists from one surprise to the next, involving benevolent crusaders and ruthless opponents. A worthwhile read, as good as any of McNab’s previous thrillers.
