About this deal

Talento en abundancia, originalidad deslumbrante y elegancia con las palabras… El Zahir es algo más”. When it comes to the breathing... its really profound, and some of the things he has claimed are world changing if they can be duplicated by us common mortals. I believe in it (due to a book I read last year called "Breath: The New Science of a Lost Art" by James Nestor), and I believe that breathing the right way, and consciously breathing will be a boon for my health, and future in this very bleak world. (yeah I said that).

Wim Hof is a legend. It's hard to read books that are about people larger than life, because at least for myself I constantly doubt that what he was able to do applies to common mortals such as myself. As you probably would imagine, he spends a significant part of the book reminding the reader that they could in fact do these things as well... but isn't that the pattern? The Iceman' Wim Hof shares his remarkable life story and powerful method for supercharging your health and happiness. Refined over forty years and championed by scientists across the globe, you'll learn how to harness three key elements of Cold, Breathing and Mindset to take ownership over your own mind and wellbeing.

Diaries & Calendars

Wim Hoff is quite the enigma. I have no doubt that he is quite insane and also quite brilliant. It is clear to me that the two walk hand in hand. Does he think it might have helped Olaya, I wonder? “Me knowing what I know now? I would get her out in no time.” He’s now published a new book, The Wim Hof Method: Activate Your Potential, Transcend Your Limits, in which he explains how we can all have autonomy over our body by adopting the thee-pillar approach, and it doesn’t require an ice bath.

My hope is to inspire you to retake control of your body and life by unleashing the immense power of the mind. Do you experience that? Ask yourself, "Have I ever experienced the wonders of life?" Meditate about it. Meditation helps your spirit bloom like a beautiful flower. The experience can be beautiful and great. Poetry is the language of the soul. So listen. "Life is like a dewdrop on a grass leaf. When is slips away, it's gone forever.” For most of our evolutionary history, a merciless natural environment automatically did this for us: sub-zero temperatures, howling winds and hungry wolves kept our muscles and veins supple, and our minds sharp and clear. It's been a few days that I've started taking cold showers and doing breathing exercises, and I already see some of the benefits. Wim’s specific breathing exercises take about 20 minutes and involve rounds of 30 to 40 deep breaths, which should be done in a safe environment, ideally before breakfast.Better recognized as The Iceman, Hof is a Dutch motivational speaker and extreme athlete recognized for his capability of resisting exceptionally low temperatures. Hof’s own life has been punctuated by near-death experiences, tragedy and epiphany. He almost didn’t make it into the world. After his identical twin brother, Andre, was born, their mother was taken to recover; no one knew there was another baby. “I almost suffocated, I came out purple,” he says. His mother, a devout Catholic, cried: “Oh God, let this child live! I will make him a missionary!” Which he kind of is, although maybe not in the way she envisioned.

Breath—Wim’s unique practices to change your body chemistry, infuse yourself with energy, and focus your mind Armed with his motto 'what I am capable of, everybody can learn', Wim Hof is convinced that everyone can tap into their inner potential without having to invest the same decades worth of study, travel and daring. Every suggestion made by Wim Hof is validated by our editors. You can find the sources to the recommendations linked next to the books.

Customer reviews

We’re in the kitchen now. Hof offered coffee but then it was forgotten, lost in monologue. His eldest son, Enahm, drops in and re-offers, apologising for the instant coffee. His dad is a terrible cook, he says; when they were kids, he would give them pasta with tomato ketchup. Hof eats once a day, simple food, vegetables. Leeks are a favourite, with salt. But listening to Hof, you would think the WHM was a miracle cure for pretty much everything. And when he starts talking about doctors, that many of them don’t want to heal but are “drug-pushers”, he starts to sound conspiratorial. Wim Hof, better known as The Iceman, holds multiple world records for his ability to withstand extremely cold temperatures. I’ve been following Wim Hof’s method for about a year now but reading this book is still somehow life changing The Wim Hof Method / Just Breathe: Mastering Breathwork / The Oxygen Advantage / What Doesn't Kill Us (4-Book Collection Set)

That being said, this book is so full of pseudo-religious mumbo-jumbo and variations on "If you follow this method, you will live 500 years, never experience disease, your wife and kids will love you, you will never feel sad or depressed", naturally supported by Wim's own claims about his own life, that it's hard to get through to the end. I think I eventually gave up at about 87% through, because I couldn't get through the 20th repetition of the same ideas. The book could have been 75% shorter (and probably 75% more enjoyable as a result). There is some good information here (respectable studies that have looked at his method, for example) and I do expect more studies to confirm the benefits of cold exposure and breathing exercises (we should not need studies to confirm common sense, might I say). Science should be looking to explain the powerful effects of placebo and Wim appears to have submitted exciting scientific research on the matter... whether it's a breakthrough only time will tell. The Way of the Iceman: How the Wim Hof Method Creates Radiant Long-term Health—Using the Science and Secrets of Breath Control, Cold-Training and CommitmentPractice is the key. As is learning. And this book doesn’t quite pin down precisely what is needed. It’s like he’s trying to convince us that his method is real, and that it works, but he doesn’t quite show us what his method is. He gives us data and a lot of biography. He tells us how he came to his method and why he felt it was necessary. And it’s very convincing. I believe in what he says. I think he has found something, and he understands a crucial fact of human existence: none of us ever really discover our true potential. Been practicing with the mobile app for sometime or maybe you’re an all-or-nothing, jump in with both feet kind of person? Hof met his first wife, Olaya, from the Basque country in Spain, while living in a squat in Amsterdam. Enahm was born, they became a family and got by on very little money. They had three more children and spent time living in a Basque village. That said, the book is about the method and from an author who put their ego aside and invested their life on a w(h)im!
