About this deal

Made from aluminium and designed in the UK by specialist audio equipment manufacturers, the EvermixBox4 is light (85g) but highly durable and designed to withstand even the most chaotic DJ booth! iOS COMPATIBILITY: The new EvermixBox 4 now has an auxiliary mic input ideal for capturing ambient noise like crowds cheering as you drop that mix.

Now comes with mini-din to lightning cable (iPhone) and mini-din to USB-C cable (Android, Macbook). The app can be accessed for free for a 30 day trial to see how you get on with it and also using your phone as a recording device. While you could record your mixes through many different methods, one of the best that I’ve found that works specifically for recording your own mixes “just for you” is the EvermixBox 4. This is just a really simple way to reliably record your material, all while using your android or ios smartphone and a small hardware box.

Recording your DJ set with a Computer

Record your DJ sets and easily share with fans and listeners around the world on Mixcloud and Soundcloud at the press of a button A REC OUT port on a DJ mixer is a line-level output that allows DJ’s to record the output of the mixer without factoring in the master gain/volume. For example, if you have your gain levels set on each channel at medium volume but then the master down low. The REC OUT ignores the master and outputs the mix at the medium volume as you set on the channels. Arguably the cheapest option to go with recording your DJ sets, however the cost of a smartphone e.g. Samsung or iPhone are pretty steep. Evermix Box 4 is a tiny sound card designed for use with mobile phones. You connect RCA cables from the REC OUT or Master 2 to the Evermix and then connect your phone to the other side. The Evermix box provides the phone with a high-quality feed, and the app then allows you to record in either WAV or AAC format to the phone’s memory. Dual purpose for recording via microphone and line input (if you wanted to get into producing music too)

If you’re a DJ producer, then the Tascam device would be a great and valuable recording device. You can easily use the device to record sounds, vocals, live guitar etc to then use in your music productions. The EvermixBox4 is the perfect interface between a DJ mixer / controller and a smartphone or tablet. The small box can be connected to any record-out of a DJ mixer, controller or all-in-one DJ system. Via USB-C data cable, the connection from the EvermixBox4 to a smartphone or tablet is established and turns a mobile device into a recording device in no time. SD card adaptor to connect to your laptop and transfer your DJ sets to be then promoted on Mixcloud, social media etc. You will need to look out for different adaptors for Mac or Windows as the connections vary slightly. All these things bring challenges; however, our PIONEER CDJ MASTERCLASS course can arm you with the tools and techniques for stepping up to a pro DJ set up.Lastly, you could use it as an audio interface for your desktop or laptop, plugging the USB-C cable into your Mac computer (not Windows).

Studio-grade external sound cards can be quite expensive, but we don’t always need to spend that much to record a mix. If you do own a small sound card such as the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2, you can easily use this to record your mix. Many DJ’s will be unaware that DVS sound cards such as the range of Rane SL interfaces and Denon DS1 can also be used as a regular sound card for recording purposes. If your mixer is older and only has the four usual channels, we need to decide which channel to use for outputting the mix. We can’t use a channel that will be used by DVS. If you aren’t using DVS while recording, you can skip this step. Recording your set whilst using DVS The apps appear to be ridiculously easy to upload to other platforms such as Soundcloud or Mixcloud. There are slight variants of the Tascam which provide different functionality, such as how many channels you can record at once and also microphone type.Once recorded you can then edit the tags and name your mix before directly uploading it to either Mixcloud or Sound Cloud from your phone. It’s a brilliant product that works with virtually any DJ set up. Recording your DJ set with a Computer

When you are finished, make sure you stop the recording and save the mix to a location of your choice. One of the easiest ways to record your DJ sets is by using the software you’re actually DJ’ing on. This is made even easier when you are using a DJ controller as the software will automatically set up the recording channel, simplifying the process massively. Record your Serato DJ set This little cassette tape looking device is small and practical little thing. Simplistic in design, easy to use, lightweight and easy to carry around with you. Plug the RCA to 3.5mm into the Attenuator. DJ equipment outputs at line level volume, unfortunately your phone is expecting a mic level input. The attenuator allows the user to reduce the volume down to Mic level to avoid distortion and clipping. You can skip the attenuator but you will need to set your output levels on your controller very low!
