This is probably the coolest set: all squigs all the time. How good this will be is yet to really be seen with the impending Gloomspite Gitz box on the horizon so it’s hard to gauge. If you’re just getting started in the faction, don’t have many squigs in your Gloomspite army, or are getting it as a gift for someone that simply loves squigs then it’s a pretty great box. Mangler squigs are maybe one of the coolest models in the game and since it’s two full sets of them you can turn one or both into Heroes as well if you really wanted to. For now, though, it is hard to know sure what the overall pricing of all the new Battleforces will be in 2022, as traditionally, Games Workshop revealed them around the middle of November (except this year and in 2018).

I’m not going to mince words, this box is…bad. It’s going to try and pull you in with the Stormdrake, and hey even the Hammer Annihilators are actually pretty good. Don’t be fooled. With a new book coming out during “winter” it is impossible to say if this force will be competitive, but the box itself follows the “rule of cool” putting in some of the best models to build and paint in all of Sigmar. Unlike some other boxes released all of the models are new or resculpts. Due to the thematic unity this is a great box to get if you are thinking about getting into gitz or Age of Sigmar in general. More experienced loonboss’s will need to count how many mangler squigs they have. The value of this box for experienced gitz players goes up significantly if Mangler Squigs become conditional battleline. Nighthaunt Overall, this is a good year for boxes. A whopping 7 and I think of all of them only one is truly, laughably bad (Stormcast). Most are good for people starting out, for a New Year New Army challenge, with very little filler that will get left on the shelf.Also, it’s interesting to note that Necrons in 2020 and Orks in 2021 were actually probably the newest released factions to grab a box (even though it had been months since their new codex dropped at that point). Christmas is coming. We’ve already seen this year’s new Warhammer 40,000 Battleforces, and it’s time to see what’s inside the Warhammer Age of Sigmar sets. Whichever Grand Alliance you’re a fan of, there’s a box for you. Daughters of Khaine: Khainite Slaughter-Coven Looking at this list, a few boxes of the same army (especially for 40k) come out almost every year, like Space Marines and Nids. It seems that lately, AoS has newer factions (but this year it looks like some repeats), whereas Warhammer 40k is a mix of both newer and older (like Guard in 2020). There’s 2 major reasons people generally like the gitz: They like the underdogs, or they like the silliness (or both!). Gitz have been seen as the underdog army basically from Age of Sigmar’s inception. Their rules have always been a bit haphazard, weaker than equivalent units and subject to a lot of randomness. This does have a certain appeal to a kind of person who didn’t really care about winning and just wanted to cause some chaos on the table.

There’s three interesting, if not overwhelmingly strong, options for the Dankhold Troggboss. Firstly, Alpha Trogg provides two extra wounds and the Monster keyword, a small mercy for everyone who thought they should be monsters anyway. Trogg Smash is a once per battle 3” mortal wound bomb that triggers after the Troggboss fights. Most intriguing is Loonskin which lets you take one of the non-arachnacauldron Gitz endless spells for 0 points and lets your general attempt to cast it (but crucially, does not make them a wizard so any of those predatory spells will be wild). Artefacts To sum it up, if you’re looking to get into the army totally from scratch this is a perfectly fine box for laying the foundation of a bigger force. It pairs well with a vanguard box, but established players probably already have all the good stuff here. Judging by the FAQ, this isn’t likely to change, sadly, as the FAQ is one of the longest of the bunch, but is instead almost entirely devoted to how their Bad Moon mechanic works, which is maybe a bad sign if your new edition FAQ is devoted to explaining a nearly 2 year old mechanic. Anyway, let’s take a look at what the FAQ has in store for everyone’s favorite (smaller) greenskins.
